Consults with and makes appropriate recommendations to multidisciplinary staff (e.g., security staff, unit staff, and facility management) regards behavior and mental health issues affecting inmates. Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload. Provides appropriate mental health assessments, counseling and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis. The Bilingual Crisis Contact Specialist is a dual-role position responsible for providing support through both phone and chat. This role serves the 988 NBU Suicide & Crisis Lifeline as well as the Disaster Distress Helpline. The Bilingual Crisis Contact Specialist provides call, chat, and text support to individuals in crisis, ensuring timely intervention, risk assessment, emotional support, and referral to appropriate resources, while maintaining compliance with HeartLine and national standards. Determines if the call is clinical and requires transfer to a clinical staff person. Will inform callers, including members, facility personnel, physicians, or other health care professionals of the utilization requirements and procedures. Makes initial referrals that do not require evaluation or interpretation of clinical information to behavioral health services. Completes appropriate electronic certification and progress notes documentation of activities as needed. Assists with specialized job tasks which may include claims corrections and follow-up with provider/member questions regarding claims payments, generate provider faxes, generate member letters, and other administrative tasks. Work may also involve dealing with members who are disgruntled or upset. Performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Basic punctuation and grammar skills Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently. Proficient in Microsoft applications. Ability to work independently and apply good judgment. Ability to maintain and preserve information of highly confidential nature. Possess strong oral communication skills. Successful completion of Health Care Sanctions background check. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Customer service, office management, and/or healthcare experience preferred but not required.

Assigns mental health diagnoses to inmates as appropriate. * Provides crisis, suicide and harm-reduction intervention/procedures to inmates identified as high-risk for self-harm, harm to others and/or have the potential for violence. * Identifies, monitors, and provides mental health services to inmates with diagnosable mental health, behavioral, or emotional disorder to facilitate and support their wellness and recovery. * Provides individual and/or group counseling or psychotherapy and evidence-based therapeutic services to inmates identified as needing mental health services to prevent decompensation and to promote personal growth, coping skills and support their recovery. * Coordinates with other medical and mental health professionals to ensure quality and continuity of care. * Schedules, monitors, and may participate in appointments with internal and external mental health professionals and providers to ensure medication compliance.
