Job Responsibilities:
Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social or health services field is required;
Master's degree in social or health services field preferred
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
* Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
* Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
* Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques.
* Documentation experience, including maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
* Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
* Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.

Deliver remote, evidence-based therapy to adult clients (18+), practicing modalities like CBT, DBT, ACT, MBCT, TLDP, IPT, EFT, and MI.
Maintain a caseload of 7-20 attended ongoing therapy and consult sessions per week

· Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required by the Command, to include but not limited to online annual training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training.
· Actively participate in the command's Performance Improvement Program. Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
· Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Provide training and/or direction as applicable to supporting government employe es (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.).
· Attend and participate in various meetings as directed.
· Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
· Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications.
· Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
· Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives, and prepare such records and reports as may be required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions.
Staffing and Scheduling:
The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 and 1630.

Located in the heart of the Lowcountry in South Carolina, Coastal Oaks Recovery is a 72-bed substance use disorder treatment center serving adults aged 18 and older. Nestled on five serene acres near the coastal waters and wetlands of Port Royal, Coastal Oaks provides a tranquil environment for individuals to stabilize and embark on their recovery journey.
We offer medically monitored detoxification under the care of experienced professionals and residential treatment services lasting 30 to 45 days. Our evidence-based programs include group therapy, individual counseling, family programming, and holistic, patient-centered care tailored to meet individual needs.
Position Purpose
The Therapist provides clinical care to patients in both individual and group settings. This role is integral to Coastal Oaks Recovery's multidisciplinary team, helping patients address substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges through evidence-based therapies. The Therapist collaborates with patients, families, and staff to create individualized treatment plans and support long-term recovery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Care
Conduct comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations.
Provide individual, group, and family therapy aligned with evidence-based practices.
Address co-occurring disorders using integrated treatment approaches.
Create a therapeutic environment that fosters trust, growth, and healing.
Collaboration and Leadership
Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and team meetings.
Support the development of individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
Serve as a resource for staff and families, providing guidance on therapeutic approaches and recovery planning.
Education and Advocacy
Educate patients and families about the recovery process and available support resources.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, including confidentiality under 42 CFR.
Advocate for patients' needs and connect them with community resources and aftercare support.
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all therapy sessions and assessments in the EMR system.
Ensure compliance with Coastal Oaks policies, The Joint Commission standards, and state regulations.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives as required.
Skills and Abilities
Strong therapeutic communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in EMR systems and documentation practices.
Ability to manage crises and de-escalate tense situations effectively.
Experience with motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or similar modalities.
Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited institution.
Licensure/Certification
Current licensure in South Carolina as LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent.
Certifications in addiction counseling or trauma-informed care are preferred.
Experience
Minimum of two years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, mental health counseling, or a related field.
Knowledge of addiction treatment practices and co-occurring disorder management is required.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and interacting with patients and staff.
Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
Ability to manage emotional stress and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
Work primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
