Manufacturing Technician
This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain process and production controls and instrumentation equipment. Performs predictive and preventive maintenance on systems and processes to support the achievement of the company's vision, mission and values.
Essential Functions
Perform highly diversified duties to install, calibrate and maintain food processing and production controls and instrumentation equipment.
Develop PLC code and SCADA control system architecture.
Detect, troubleshoot, repair and identify root cause of plant and production control equipment issues.
Perform planned, unplanned and preventive repairs of all plant equipment.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical drawings, P&IDs and work orders to perform required tasks.
Keep assigned work orders current to seven days.
Maintain controls programs and equipment for plant utility systems in such a manner that these systems do not cause any production downtime.
Safely operate the plant utility systems during shift (steam, air handling, ammonia, compressed air, electrical, water and sewer).
Addresses items on the corrective action database (CAD) in a timely manner so that the list is kept to 30 days current.
Comply with all company safety rules to achieve no injuries and no lost-time accidents.
Safely handle, prepare and use chemicals while wearing proper PPE.
Understand and adhere to all PSM requirements.
Design, build and coordinate/lead large-scale controls projects.
Configure, program, implement and test large-scale controls projects.
Maintain training requirements to serve on the emergency response team.
Attend and/or complete required safety and quality training sessions by the assigned deadlines.
Maintain standard records pertaining to daily work requirements in a manner that makes them a reliable data source for safety, quality and regulatory requirements and audits.
Understand and adhere to all GMPs and food safety policies and procedures and perform all work in a manner that ensures the highest standard of food safety and quality.
Use tools, spare parts and supplies in a responsible manner that yields maximum profitability for VQ while maintaining equipment and facility to the highest possible standard.
Ensure 100 percent accuracy when signing out spare parts and any other parts transactions.
Respond to all production area controls calls as a top priority to ensure production time is not lost.

Manufacturing Machine Operator
Job Information
Safely set-up and operate equipment including, but not limited to, lathes, machining centers, hobs, heat treating equipment, welders, presses, saws, broaches, grinders, drills as required to support CNC machining operations.
Role & Responsibility
Essential Functions
Perform work associated with the operation of machining cells to manufacture products assigned to those cells.
Rotate and support operators in cells per the training matrix.
Measure, examine, and verify parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers and document accordingly.
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and any specialized or advanced tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to ensure efficient operation per documentation to include but not limited to setup sheets.
Observe machine characteristics to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine if adjustments or repairs are required.
Document and provide feedback on issues that prevent cell from achieving targeted production run rates.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment to include but not limited to routine cleaning, removal of chips and maintaining lubrication/coolant levels.
Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media as required.
Provide feedback to supervisory and manufacturing personnel to ensure effective operation of equipment within a cell.
Confer with CNC programmers in order to check and ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly, and that output will meet specifications.
Clean and maintain work area per 5 S plans.
Other Duties
Must report all injury, incidents and near misses to supervisor within the shift, regardless of severity.
Must be able to operate a walk behind forklift and a lift truck. Operators are required to maintain annual OSHA forklift training.
Must fill out daily production boards as well as the 5S metric boards for their specific cell.
Must follow Red Tag procedures.
Required to correctly identify and label parts for their specific area with correct quantity and location.
Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.
Perform critical to quality checks as required.
Perform other non-essential duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirement
Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly, possessing basic machining knowledge and the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
Candidate must also have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.
The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.
Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.
General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations or assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations or assignments.
