Purpose of Position:
To create a safe, healthy, and positive working environment at the Business Unit level for all Foster Farms' team members. Responsible for the Prepared Foods Business Unit compliance with local, state, federal and corporate regulations pertaining to health and safety concerns (HS). Developing, implementing, and managing all H&S policies and procedures. Provide strategic guidance and coaching to the Prepared Foods Business Unit Safety Team.
Mentor Safety Team, team members, and management to develop a positive safety culture throughout the complex.
Maintain and analyze safety related data to develop trends and action plans. Prepare and deliver reports for management and guide safety committees.
Perform safety audits and inspections of the Prepared Foods Business Unit operations, as well as track findings and assign corrective actions to ensure closure.
Prepare and deliver selected H&S trainings and programs to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
Assist the Environmental Department when needed, enforce and monitor compliance with environmental programs for the facility; programs include Air Quality, Pesticide, Hazardous Material, Hazardous Waste, Industrial Wastewater and Drinking Water & Storm Water Programs
Inspect equipment, working conditions, and maintain OSHA files and supporting documents required by municipal, State and Federal regulations.
Report any potential violations and recommend corrections, as needed.
Communicates safety procedure changes to Business Partners through several conduits including staff meetings, safety huddles, postings, and interpersonal communication.
Ensures all health safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed on an annual basis or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation and are rolled-out in a timely manner.

Perform accurate record keeping and gather statistics in compliance with governmental regulations and/or company needs, utilizing company computer and/or manual systems. Includes records of training drills, audit inspections, certifications, procedures, permits, communication with external agencies and any other documents required by governmental regulations.
Serve as an additional point-of-contact for external safety and/or environmental auditors/inspectors. Participate in external audits/inspections in conjunction with the HS Management.
Assist with contacting vendors to coordinate/arrange outside services related to environmental or safety regulations and/or industrial hygiene, such as audiometric testing, thermographic testing, hazardous waste disposal, water testing, fire protection system services, etc.
Assist with generation of weekly and monthly safety reports and forward to Corporate Management for review.
Assist with review and updates of written Job Safety Analysis for all positions, as necessary.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Preferred B.S./B.A. degree in safety or related field (ASP or CSP Preferred).
Must have a minimum of seven years of professional experience in planning, developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with health and safety system programs and environmental programs in a food manufacturing environment. Poultry experience is preferred.
Education and experience must clearly indicate the existence of specialized knowledge in critical health & safety programs and functions, such as medical management, behavioral safety process, facility auditing, incident investigation, and employee safety committees.
Knowledge of Cal/OSHA, Fed/OSHA and UFC rules and standards.
