GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, prepares surfaces and applies appropriate coatings to internally fabricated equipment, including point-of-use carts, material flow racks, sequencing carts, and custom workstations. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares the painting surface.
Cleans grease and dirt from product, using appropriate cleaning materials such as lacquer.

May use acid, wire brush, or steel wool to remove rust from metal.
May be required to grind, sand, or buff the surface.
May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.

Prepares mixture:
Selects, mixes, and thins paints/coating liquid per paint codes to produce desired color, according to specifications, using paddle or mechanical mixer.
Paints parts and products using a brush, roller, spray can, or spray gun
Fully qualified in all operations of paint spray gun (i.e., filling container, using appropriate tools to connect gun to air hose, regulating width and pressure of spray
May use hand brush to coat areas inaccessible to hand sprayer.
Finishes surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, wax, or other materials.
Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
Maintains paint production as shop flow demands.
Maintains weekly inventory of paint products.
Packages and labels product.
Maintains clean, organized and safe work area to include equipment and brushes utilizing appropriate chemicals and solvents.
Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, positioners, and hoists.
Works independently.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.

Coordinates with the Supervisor/Group Leader to determine the disposition of questionable scrapped or rejected parts and assemblies.
Train Assemblers in policies and procedures related to maintaining the department in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
Submit work orders and tool repair tickets to Tool and Die and Plant Engineering in a timely manner.
Provide input to Supervisor/Group Leader regarding improvement of production issues, tooling, fixtures, and changes in processes and act upon approval, to improve those processes and quality issues.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rework and repair vehicles in finished goods inventory or in the red tag area when necessary. Also inventories and installs missing components on vehicles in finished goods inventory when necessary.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

About the Role
Caterpillar's Leadership and Technical Development Program (LTDP) for Supply Chain Management is a three-year rotational program designed to accelerate development of entry-level talent and provide a solid foundation for meeting challenges within supply chain. Being part of the LTDP team offers you a broad exposure to Caterpillar, presents diverse project responsibilities, engages you in a global team, provides cross-functional job experiences and includes valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar leadership. Caterpillar's Supply Chain track is focused on building technical capabilities for managing Supply Chain functions. This opportunity advances your development and training to build future leaders within supply chain. Professionals within the program will complete three 12-month rotations, which are defined based on business needs.
