This role involves leading diverse Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives in the electric vehicle sector, collaborating with global teams to drive value and margin improvement from concept to execution. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Collaborate closely with the India Engineering team to provide local support on VA/VE projects when needed (i.e., supporting local test execution, prototyping, manufacturing pilot builds, jury evaluations, etc.).

Independently manage multiple mid-to-large projects with strong organization and effective task prioritization.
Aid in implementing core value engineering principles into our product development process.
Effectively mentor less-experienced engineers within the local and global VA/VE team on best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent is required. Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not required.
Expert in following areas:

Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening in Alpharetta, Georgia for a Senior Electrical Engineer with a focus on low and medium voltage switchgear layout and controls for Caterpillar generators.

What You Will Do:
* Review specifications, proposals, estimates, and other contract documents to develop submittal packages consisting of drawings and BOMs.
* Create preliminary designs for switchgear and generator control systems.
* Finalize power envelope designs for medium and low voltage systems.
* Design protective relaying schemes for switchgear.
* Support inside and outside sales team members with technical solutions and guidance.
* Support production engineers for successful transition from submittals to production.
* Work with consultants and customers to gain production approval on submittal packages.
* Interpret customer specifications and drawings and have in-depth dealer/consultant interaction.
* Present clear detailed designs for production engineers to execute.
* Research new part requirements, read manuals and contact vendors to ensure successful implementation.
What You Will Have:
Technical Excellence: Working knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
* Experience in the design of low and medium voltage switchgear.
* Detailed understanding of protective relays, their functions, and proper applications.
* Basic understanding of PLC / SCADA communications networks and protocols.
* Detailed understanding of NEC, UL, ANSI and other standards.
* Basic understanding of generator controls and limitations.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Extensive experience and understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Analytical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Working knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Problem Solving: Extensive experience and working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive experience and knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
