ClubCorp was founded by Robert H. Dedman on November 11, 1957, and construction began on Brookhaven Country Club in the Farmers Branch suburb of Dallas.
1958: Country Clubs, Inc. begins constructing its first club--Brookhaven Country Club.
Brookhaven held an open-house in 1959 to show off the 26,000 square foot informal wing.
By 1961, the Wall Street Journal praised Country Clubs, Incorporated for its creative business strategies.
1965: Company name is changed to Club Corporation of America.
In 1965, ClubCorp expanded to include city clubs, similar to country clubs but without golf courses.
1966 The Lancers Club, ClubCorp’s first business club, opens at the top of the LTV Tower in downtown Dallas.
1968 The University Club of Jacksonville, FL, ClubCorp’s first business and sports club, is built to answer the growing interest in fitness and health by combining a state-of-the-art athletic facility with the ambience and personalized service of a city club.
After the resort was sold by the Tufts family in 1970, it changed hands several times.
In 1971, The University Club of Houston opens (Texas) near the Galleria complex and is the world's first indoor climate-controlled tennis complex.
In 1975, they bought 13 additional clubs, including the Inverrary Country Club, home to the PGA Tour.
In 1976, ClubCorp Realty is formed to develop residential communities around country clubs.
By 1980, the company owned and operated some 87 country and city clubs, offered club management consulting services, and had seven land development projects under way.
In 1981, ClubCorp acquired Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH, from the Firestone Family.
1982: Club Corporation opens its first foreign property.
By 1983, Club Corporation owned or managed more than 100 clubs.
1984: Club Corporation acquires its first resort property, the venerable Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina.
In 1985, the company opened the Center Club in Costa Mesa, California and purchased two Michigan resorts--Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain.
To ensure that his company continued to operate efficiently, Dedman led Club Corporation through a major restructuring in 1986.
In 1986, ClubCorp began publishing Private Clubs magazine as a vehicle for communicating to members.
The following year, Club Corporation launched the Columbia Tower Club in downtown Seattle, and in 1988 opened the City Club of San Francisco, located in the Stock Exchange Tower.
Club Corporation pledged to devote more than $7 million to renovating Shangri-La. For example, in January 1990, Club Corporation acquired the 650-acre Shangri-La Resort in Oklahoma.
In 1991, the company launched Pinehurst Championship Management (PCM), a sports marketing division, which marketed and operated major championship golf events at Club Corporation properties.
In 1993, Club Corporation assumed the management and co-ownership of another resort, The Homestead in Hot Spring, Virginia.
In 1993, the company bought the Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs, California.
1994 ClubCorp develops and opens Capital Club in Beijing; and the United States Senior Open is conducted at Pinehurst in July.
The Gainey Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona became the next Club Corporation acquisition in 1995.
1996 ClubCorp develops and opens Tower Club in Singapore.
In 1997, Club Corporation made its first move into the United Kingdom with its purchase of the Drift Golf Club in Surrey, England.
1998 Alumni clubs Boston College Club and University of Texas Club open.
These maneuvers were part of an overall strategy shift spearheaded by Robert H. Dedman, Jr., who assumed the position of CEO in 1998.
In 1998, Private Clubs earned the distinction of having the most affluent audience in America.
In 1998, ClubCorp entered into an agreement for Golden Bear International, Jack Nicklaus's company, to design 36 new golf courses, co-owned and operated by ClubCorp.
1999 ClubCorp offers the first Gold program, providing golf and dining benefits with access to a worldwide network – a distinguishing benefit of the ClubCorp model.
With more than 250,000 members worldwide, ClubCorp is focused on aggressively expanding its holdings; its sales rose an impressive 20 percent in 1999 to reach $1.2 billion.
1999: Pinehurst Resort & Country Club hosts the prestigious United States Open golf tournament; company changes name to ClubCorp, Inc.
In 1999, they partnered with the American Golf Corporation to buy 45 properties from Cobblestone Golf for $393 million.
2002 ClubCorp opens Bear’s Best Las Vegas, a unique, daily fee golf course concept featuring hole replications of designs by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
2005 ClubCorp hosts the United States Open at Pinehurst; and University of Massachusetts Club opens.
2006 Supporting a commitment to managing family-friendly clubs, ClubCorp and The Clubs of Kingwood, in Houston, introduce one of the first family-friendly golf courses including kids’ golf programs, kid golf cars and four-seater family golf cars.
2007 ClubCorp holds its inaugural Charity Classic golf and dining event, raising in excess of $1.6 million for MDA’s Augie’s Quest and the Employee Partners Care Foundation.
2009 ClubCorp launches the Dallas-Fort Worth Young Executive Membership, providing young executives and their families an unprecedented level of access to a network of 10 private clubs across the DFW Metroplex.
2010 ClubCorp acquires The Country Club of the South in Georgia.
2012 ClubCorp adds Mission Hills Golf Club & Resort in China to its network of properties in its reciprocal access program, expands its club management portfolio with LPGA International and Hollytree Country Club, and acquires Hartefeld National.
In 2014, ClubCorp acquired Sequoia Golf Holdings, Inc. for $265 million, expanding its portfolio by 30 percent.

2016 ClubCorp expands in Jacksonville, Florida with acquisition of Marsh Creek Country Club; acquires Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club in Sonoma County, California and Heritage Golf Club near Columbus, Ohio; and announces deal to manage the China-US SkyClub in NY One World Trade Center.
In March 2017, ClubCorp announced the acquisition of the Rockville, Maryland-based club, Norbeck Country Club.
