1895

Founded in 1895 by the Tufts family, Pinehurst had achieved the distinction of being 'one of the South's greatest resort properties,' according to the Dallas Morning News.

1917

These four clubs were the first to be chartered by The National Exchange Club after it was organized as a nonprofit, educational organization in 1917.

1923

Wright’s first stop was Macon and with the help of the Atlanta club Macon was presented their charter on July 13, 1923.

1929

It also sponsored the first National Women’s Air Derby in 1929, in which the queen of aviation, Amelia Earhart, participated.

1937

The Fair continued to expand its operations, and in 1937, the Club negotiated with the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Richmond County for the purchase of 18 acres between 3rd and 4th Streets running from Hale Street on the North to Laney-Walker Blvd. on the South.

1953

In 1953 the Club used its influence in Augusta to push for J. B. Fuqua to get the license for the first television station in Augusta, and shortly thereafter WJBF-TV was formed

1958

1958: Country Clubs, Inc. begins constructing its first club--Brookhaven Country Club.

1961

By 1961, the Wall Street Journal praised Country Clubs, Incorporated for its creative business strategies.

1966

The company broadened its horizons even further in 1966 when it opened The Lancers Club--its first city club&mdashõp the LTV Tower in downtown Dallas.

1975

In 1975 alone, Club Corporation bought 13 clubs, bringing its total to 49.

1976

In 1976, the company launched Club Corporation Realty to develop residential communities around country clubs.

1979

The Tri-Cities Exchange Club was chartered on a wintry January evening in 1979 at the Hotel Baker in St Charles, starting decades of devotion for improving the lives of children and reminding citizens of the value of the freedoms they enjoy in this country.

The National Exchange Club officially adopted the prevention of child abuse as its National Project in 1979 at the 61st National Convention.

1980

By 1980, the company owned and operated some 87 country and city clubs, offered club management consulting services, and had seven land development projects under way.

1981

In 1981, the company purchased the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, which added another prestigious golf course to Club Corporation's collection.

1982

1982: Club Corporation opens its first foreign property.

1983

By 1983, Club Corporation owned or managed more than 100 clubs.

1984

In 1984, Club Corporation expanded its operations yet again with the purchase of the venerable Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.

1986

To ensure that his company continued to operate efficiently, Dedman led Club Corporation through a major restructuring in 1986.

1988

The following year, Club Corporation launched the Columbia Tower Club in downtown Seattle, and in 1988 opened the City Club of San Francisco, located in the Stock Exchange Tower.

1989

In 1989, Dedman's son, Robert H. Dedman, Jr., was elected president of Club Corporation.

1990

Club Corporation pledged to devote more than $7 million to renovating Shangri-La. For example, in January 1990, Club Corporation acquired the 650-acre Shangri-La Resort in Oklahoma.

1993

In 1993, Club Corporation assumed the management and co-ownership of another resort, The Homestead in Hot Spring, Virginia.

In 1993, the company bought the Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs, California.

1998

These maneuvers were part of an overall strategy shift spearheaded by Robert H. Dedman, Jr., who assumed the position of CEO in 1998.
