Mentor and manage a team with technical and administrative staff.
Ensure client and CME reporting processes are met.
Report project progress and difficulties encountered in fulfillment of duties.
Qualifications
Bachelor or associate degree in Civil Engineering / Technology, Construction Management, or related.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification, or Professional Engineer (PE) License, are desirable, but not necessary.
Experience with the management of construction materials testing and/or inspection services.
Strong leadership and excellent communication skills.
Experience with human resource selection, retention, and development.
Ability to maintain respectful interpersonal relationships with employees and clients.
Compensation: $80 - 120k annually

They plan and design engineering projects that prevent fires from occurring and minimize the impact of those fires that do occur. Fire protection systems detect, control and reduce fire and smoke in buildings and structures. FPEs recommend materials, equipment, and systems to assist in safeguarding life and property against fire, analyze how fire behaves and model how safety features perform in a fire. They assess the fire protection needs within projects and document those in design analysis or basis of design reports. They create design documents for fire protection systems, including drawings, using computer-aided design (CAD) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, and specifications that are used to direct the construction of buildings and systems in the field. FPEs perform construction progress inspections and acceptance tests / commissioning to ensure that installed systems comply with the construction documents and applicable codes and that they function as intended. Your Key Responsibilities
* Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects that may include design of fire suppression systems (sprinklers and standpipes, water supply, special hazard extinguishing systems), fire detection and alarm systems, and smoke control systems, selection of fire-resistant materials and assemblies, and development of egress strategies.
* Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
* Gather information to support design decisions.
* Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Your Capabilities and Credentials
* In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
* Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
* Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.

Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
Professional Engineering license required.
LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

* Locations in VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 88,300.00 - Max Salary $ 128,000.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Purpose
Provide early career support to geological, hydrogeological, mining, geotechnical and civil engineering project teams across multiple practice areas throughout the organization including, but not limited to, investigation and remediation of impacted sites, environmental compliance, due diligence, risk assessment, and environmental health and safety.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
* Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced techniques and principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. May review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.
At the Operational and Company Level
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary and/or cross-functional teams that may include other geoscientists, geologists, engineers, and land surveyors to complete projects.
* Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
Do the Work
* Work with project teams on geohazard assessment and geotechnical/geological engineering projects that involve field activities, site observations, data evaluation, and desktop assessments.
* Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur out-of-town in all seasonal weather conditions, while using equipment and operating vehicles on behalf of the company.
* Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards using field-based data collection applications.
* Conduct subsurface field exploration tasks including observation and documentation of test pit explorations, dynamic cone penetrometer testing, and support of drilling activities for the installation of geotechnical instrumentation.
* Collect a range of field data, including from groundwater and slope monitoring instrumentation; interpret subsurface conditions, and prepare exploration field notes.
* Perform data compilation, prepare borehole (and other) logs, conduct GIS data analysis and management, research site geology, and other related duties to support project teams and report preparation.
* May also prepare technical letters, memoranda, plans, and specifications.
* May apply principles of rock and soil mechanics for engineering projects.
* May apply all branches of geologic knowledge to conditions that affect planning, design, construction, operation, and safety to engineering projects.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to continuously improve geological practices.

* Prior experience relevant to hydrogeologic investigation, remediation or treatment process testing, development, and design; systems modeling; or engineering applications associated with groundwater, soil, sediment, or surface water preferred.
* Prior experience with environmental investigations including various groundwater, soil, and soil vapor sampling methodologies preferred.
* Prior experience monitoring well drilling, logging, installation and sampling; developing boring logs and review/ interpretation of geological boring logs preferred.
* A broad understanding of soil and concrete conditions and construction related issues as they relate to geotechnical engineering and construction material testing (CMT) services.
* Strong field orientation and problem solving skills.
* Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, GIS, EVS, and/or database management software is a plus.
* HAZWOPER Certification and understanding of safety protocols preferred.
* Some travel may be required.
* Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.
