CMS Group company history timeline

2010

The CMS Innovation Center was established by Congress in 2010 to identify ways to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs in the Medicare, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs.

In 2010, Ethan Marcotte introduced the term “responsive design” that promoted a shift in thinking from the fixed design for desktop websites to responsive, fluid, adaptable layouts.

2012

2012 – Began providing management services for existing consortiums

2014

By the beginning of 2014, mobile internet use exceeded desktop use in the United States

2015

The CMS Innovation Center plays a critical role in implementing the Quality Payment Program, which Congress created as part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) to replace Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate formula to pay for physician and other provider services.

2016

2016 – Began developing programs to automate DMV updates

2018

DMS joined CMS in 2018.
