JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
* Manages an inventory of the most complex EPL and Private and Not-For-Profit D&O, which are generally multi-year and have very significant loss exposure, by following company protocols to manage and oversee all aspects of the claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies which may include extensive negotiations and complex litigation management.
* Ensures exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements for all aspects of the claim/account, providing professional and timely claims service, and achieving quality and cycle time standards.
* Verifies coverage, sets and manages timely and adequate reserves by reviewing and interpreting policy language and partnering with counsel as needed, estimating potential claim valuation, and following company's claim handling protocols.
* Drives the resolution of claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop, own and execute a claim resolution strategy, that includes management of timely and adequate reserves, negotiating complex settlements, partnering with counsel to manage complex litigation and authorizing settlements within scope of authority.
* Establishes and manages significant claim budgets by identifying, selecting and actively managing appropriate resources, delivering high quality services, and coordinating all efforts leading to timely resolution of the claim/accounts.
* Achieves quality standards by effectively managing each claim to ensure that all company protocols are followed, work is accurate and timely, all files are properly documented and claims are resolved and paid timely.
* Prepares and presents high profile, complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and others by effectively identifying high profile matters, coordinating and communicating resolution strategies and sharing relevant current events and case law.
* Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulatory requirements by following company guidelines, and staying current on insurance laws, regulations or trends for the specialized line of business.
* Mentors, guides, develops and delivers training to less experienced Claim Professionals and may assist with special projects, as needed.

* Expert knowledge of Specialty insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop collaborative working relationships, articulate very complex claim facts, analysis and recommendations in a concise manner to senior management, as well as with external and internal business partners and stakeholders.

Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree, JD Preferred.
* Typically a ten years of relevant or related experience.
* Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
* Advanced negotiation experience.
* Professional designations are highly encouraged (e.g. CPCU)

* Directly handle assigned severe claims of varying severity and complexity with potential exposures ranging from$500,000 to several million dollars, amounting to a typical inventory of claims with FDV of over a multi-million dollar value.
* Provide quality customer service and ensure file quality, timely coverage analysis and communication with insured based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case.
* Directly investigate each claim through prompt and strategically-appropriate contact with appropriate parties such as policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents, medical providers and technical experts to determine the extent of liability, damages, and contribution potential.
* Interview witnesses and stakeholders; take necessary statements, as strategically appropriate.

**What Will You Do?**
+ Within your assigned business unit, each intern will be given a designated coach and be expected to:

+ Complete challenging and meaningful project work over the course of this program at the discretion of your manager. You may work independently or with other interns and will be asked to present your findings to local leadership. Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
The Enterprise Distribution Management (EDM) team is responsible for driving profitable growth across all of Travelers business units. As a Regional Distribution Analyst, you will be responsible for successfully planning and executing on regional strategies, distribution management, analytics, and marketing in support of regional objectives. You will be a collaborative, effective member of the Regional Enterprise Distribution Management team.
What Will You Do?
* Prepare reports for CURE meetings, agent/broker results and agent/broker meetings. May participate in meetings.
* Central point of coordination for agency support services with regional & local business teams, Agency Administration, Agency Automation and agents/brokers.
* Follow Agency Administration Guidelines to collect documentation and process changes related to mergers & acquisitions. Communicates changes to business units and coordinates updates to agreements with Agency Compensation.
* Facilitate effective communication across region on agent/broker initiatives, news and insights. Maintain distributor profiles and regional access & contact guides.
* Follow best practices to assist in preparation and coordination of Distribution Leadership and Distribution Production meetings.
* Assist regional teams with effective agency planning.
* Lead, participate and/or provide input on regional projects.
* Act as or assist office resident managers as needed.
* Coordinate and maintain regional calendar of EDM events (e.g. product fairs, trade shows, associations and/or agency events). Oversee regional EDM marketing budget.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Bachelor's degree with a focus on marketing, finance or business.
* 3 or more years of insurance industry experience in agency or marketing discipline.
* Property and casualty experience.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of customers.
* Solid skills in Microsoft suite of programs to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access.
* Experience in managing complex data.

The Summer Associates Program is PHLYs exclusive internship experience. It will require students to think critically about the daily responsibilities of an insurance professional. You will learn the ins and outs of the internal systems and work alongside professionals to complete team and company objectives. You will learn the impact of your department on the overall company and its success.
Role:
Our underwriting interns will be paired with specific Underwriting department staff to work on daily, weekly, or even month-long projects that may involve running various reports, setting up work orders, assisting with special account research projects, performing basic account entry functions, and other tasks to assist a busy and successful underwriting team. Successful individuals will have a curiosity to learn, problem solving mindset and think critically to support the team. Professionalism and maturity are essential. Strong communication skills and ability to develop relationships will be important in this role.
Tasks/Projects: Participation in weekly regional and team underwriting meetings. Shadow underwriters to learn and understand key components of environmental products as well as learn and maintain knowledge of company workflow and procedures. Interact directly with internal PHLY teams in Account Management and Marketing. Support the new and renewal submission process. Learn the details of the underwriting guidelines and authority levels within the department.
