JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
* Manages an inventory of the most complex Public D&O and Financial Institutions E&O claims, which are generally multi-year and have very significant loss exposure, by following company protocols to manage and oversee all aspects of the claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies which may include pursuit of risk transfer, extensive negotiations and complex litigation management.
* Ensures exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements for all aspects of the claim/account, providing professional and timely claims services, and achieving quality and cycle time standards.
* Verifies coverage, sets and manages timely and adequate reserves by reviewing and interpreting policy language and partnering with coverage counsel as needed, estimating potential claim valuation, and following company's claim handling protocols.
* Leads all activities involved with a focused investigation to determine compensability, liability and covered damages by gathering pertinent information, documenting statements from customers/ claimants, and working with experts, or other parties, as necessary to verify the facts of the claim.
* Drives the resolution of claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop, own and execute a claim resolution strategy, that includes management of timely and adequate reserves, collaborating with coverage experts, negotiating complex settlements, partnering with counsel to manage complex litigation and authorizing payments within scope of authority.
* Establishes and manages significant claim budgets by identifying, selecting and actively managing appropriate resources, delivering high quality services, and coordinating all efforts leading to timely resolution of the claim/accounts.
* Discovers and addresses subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences by evaluating the facts of the claim and making appropriate referrals to appropriate Claim, Recovery or SIU resources for further investigation.
* Achieves quality standards by effectively managing each claim to ensure that all company protocols are followed, work is accurate and timely, all files are properly documented and claims are resolved and paid timely.
* Prepares and presents high profile, complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and others by effectively identifying high profile matters, developing executive loss summaries, coordinating and communicating resolution strategies and sharing relevant current events and case law.
* Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulatory requirements by following company guidelines, and staying current on insurance laws, regulations or trends for the specialized line of business, and may represent company in industry trade groups or other important events.
* Mentors, guides, develops and delivers training to less experienced Claim Professionals and may assist with special projects as needed.

We are currently seeking a Complex Claims Consultant in our Financial Lines Claims team. The individual in this position will primarily focus on high severity D&O and E&O claims under policies issued to Public Companies as well as Financial Institutions such as large depository institutions, insurance companies and investment advisors. The Individual in this position will investigate and maintain complex professional liability claims and work within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring significant technical complexity and coordination. While utilizing claims policies and guidelines, the Individual in this position will also review coverage, assess liability and damages, secure information, and negotiate and settle claims.
The average caseload for this claim professional will be approximately 120-135 files. These claims can be highly complex in nature and valued in the multi-million dollar range. Insurance litigation and coverage interpretation/analysis experience is strongly desired.

What you'll need to succeed
* 7+ years of relevant experience in insurance industry.

The Facultative Political Violence Senior Underwriter will collaborate with the Regional Product Leader and other underwriters to target and capture desirable accounts from the most appropriate entry point for the growth and profitability of the portfolio. This position is based in Miami, FL and reports into the Regional Political Violence Product Leader of LAC Facultative Desk.
How you will create an impact
The Senior Underwriter - Political Violence and Cyber White Label will be responsible for supporting the Facultative Desk Product Leader in setting the regional underwriting strategy and the day-to-day underwriting, and management of the LATAM Political Violence and Cyber White Label portfolio written through the Miami FAC Desk including but not limited to:
* Carry out the underwriting process of the risks received through the different distribution channels according to the in line corporate guidelines and the Profit Center.
* Support in the generation of key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels, effectiveness ratios, analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others
* Collaborate in the development of business strategies, development of new products, preparation of budgets
* Support in the preparation of commercial presentations, newsletters, marketing material and other initiatives for marketing and distribution.
* Interact with different areas of the Company such as Claims, Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, Finance, and Accounting among others for the proper development of the operations of the Division.
* Interact and meet the requirements of our clients and intermediaries.
* Drive underwriting excellence across the business by ensuring adherence to risk appetite, underwriting and line setting guidelines, technical rating, and pricing adequacy.
* Supports Product Leader driving development and execution of the AIG / Talbot underwriting strategy global underwriting guidelines and strategy. This includes monitoring portfolio performance, aggregate exposures, loss ratios, and P&L.
* Serve as the Center of Excellence for all AIG local offices, collaborate with territory Managers and underwriters to target desirable accounts and identify cross selling opportunities.
* Prepare key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels and analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others.
* Support in the preparation of presentations to both internal and external stakeholders as the business requires.
* Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines.
* Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained for the division.
What you'll need to succeed
* College or university degree in areas of Business Administration, Political Science, Finance or Legal
* Reinsurance courses or certifications are desirable.
* A minimum of 5 years experience interacting with in the Latin American insurance or reinsurance industry preferably in Political Violence / Property / Energy related products.
* Commercial ability to work with reinsurance brokers and cedents which could provide target accounts to achieve our goals.
* Superior problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to succinctly interpret data for executive review
* Knowledge of Sharepoint and advanced MS Excel/Powerpoint/ Word
* Resourceful and decisive with overall good reasoning ability and high degree of attention to detail.
* Coverage, terms, clauses and wordings understanding and analysis.
