Canopy was acquired by CNN in March 2020, where I'm now focusing on privacy, personalization and connecting the world to things that matter. Previously was co-founder and CTO of the music intelligence platform The Echo Nest from 2005 until its acquisition by Spotify in 2014. The Echo Nest grew from our dissertations at MIT to 70 employees and powered the music intelligence for almost the entire industry over nine years. At Spotify I built their research team and focused on the next steps in music recommendation.

My background is in natural language processing (MS from Columbia in 2001), machine learning, information retrieval, recommendations and signal processing (PhD from MIT in 2005.) I work on various side projects around embedded audio hardware, speech processing and music.
