Co-operations engineer job description

We are seeking highly motivated university students to learn and contribute hands-on with our Flash and HDD engineering teams for a 4-8 month Co-Op. Current students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
We are recruiting for the following areas where you can be hired into a role within the group:

Customer Solutions Software Co-Op Engineer - The Customer Tools team is a dynamic environment where you'll work closely with software tool development engineers and our customers' engineers during the process of delivering a software tool solution. The ideal candidate is developing skills in application-level programming (C/C++, Java, QT), is familiar with Linux and Windows shell scripting (Python, Bash, Sh), and can work in Windows and Linux server storage environments.

Firmware Development Co-Op Engineer - As a Firmware Development Co-Op Engineer, you will be part of a team of growth minded problem solvers that are bringing to life world-class performance SSDs for our Enterprise customers. In this role, you will learn and develop protocol-based firmware using C/C++ and Python, work with team members to support and enhance CI test infrastructure, triage and debug complex firmware bugs, and develop firmware specification documents.

SoC/ASIC Co-Op Engineer - When working with the SoC Development team, you will get involved in many aspects of SoC/ASIC development. You get exposure to state-of-the-art silicon technologies which contribute to the success of industry leading data storage control SoC's that get deployed into high volume consumer and enterprise products. In this role you will develop, test and support UVM test benches for SoC level verification, testplan documentation and code reviews, and simulate and debug RTL and digital circuits.

System Integration Test Co-Op Engineer - The SIT Lab team
verifies the compatibility of enterprise (server) hard disk and solid-state drives in our customers' operating environments. System Integration Engineers are responsible for configuring the drives and systems for test, then monitoring and analyzing drive logs, system logs, bus signals, etc. to determine test status.

Read/Write Channel Integration Co-Op Engineer - In this role, you will integrate new features, perform failure analysis, and evaluate performance for a high technology digital signal processing chip that is used for recording and playback of digital information that resides on a Hard Disk Drive.

Electronics Integration Co-Op Engineer - The Hardware Development team is responsible for converting technology into products by integrating all the engineering components and makes them work together for the first time. Learn how to bring-up and validation of the controllers (SoC/ASICs), work with the firmware teams to ensure new hardware features are correctly implemented, determine root cause for hardware failures, and more.

We are recruiting for an Engineer Co-op who will be based at our Salt Lake City, UT location.

In this role you will assist with several projects, including but not limited to:
Train on PowerBI and create dashboards for engineering and operations teams, automating manual reporting Tabulate scrap reasons for underperforming part numbers, analyze the data to identify trends and implement corrective actions to reduce scrap Update process documentation based off approved change orders from manufacturing engineers Coordinate environment sustainability projects between multiple plants Participate in 6S/FOD (foreign object debris) walks in production areas and communicate improvement opportunities Assist with rolling out updated PPE (personal protective equipment) in production areas

Qualifications:
Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited college or university in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Science, Manufacturing, Industrial), Computer Science/Data Analytics, or any other technical related degrees3.0 out of 4.0 overall GPA or higher Must have completed a minimum of sophomore year in a Bachelor's program Ability to work full-time on site during the Co-OpAbility to work effectively as a team member with great communication skills Strong Microsoft Office skills required Minitab, SQL, or related programming languages a plus

Under direct supervision/guidance, the engineering intern candidate will assist the engineering team in the development and analysis of the manufacturing processes and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor. Key Responsibilities • Maintain a safe working environment • Work with employees on the production floor to improve the overall manufacturing processes by implementing engineered solutions • Provide support for operational and quality issues as required • Assist team with identification of areas for improvement and suggests solutions • Prepares standard reports/ documentation to communicate results of projects
