    Position Objective: Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCC) tasks/goals at designated Army installation are to reduce medical attrition and increase Military readiness. SCCs will improve BDE readiness through Army specific functional fitness training programs, in accordance with (IAW) Field Manual (FM) 7-22 and designed to meet each BDE's Program of Instruction (POI) requirements. Services will target musculoskeletal (MSK) injury prevention and reconditioning education services. Duties and Responsibilities: SCCs will work as part of the H2F Performance Team to develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, periodized education and services program integrated and synchronized with the BDE and Battalion (BN) training calendars. Success is determined by the ability of the BDE to perform its combat mission. SCCs will perform services IAW the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) Scope of Practice. SCCs will be embedded at the BDE level. Most work will be performed in a Military training environment (i.e. fitness centers/gyms, BDE or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments, and at the SPRC). SCCs will be required to observe BDE and below (i.e. BN, company, platoon, squad, team) specific training events (e.g., obstacle courses, combatives, training areas). Support quality assurance efforts, ensuring all work performance aligns with H2F objectives. SCCs may be embedded within H2F Performance Teams across BDEs at various Government installations. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university; it is highly desired that the degree is in a related field. Must possess a passing score from the Board of Certification (BOC) by the NSCA as a CSCS or by the CSCCA as a SCCC. Have three years of relevant SCC work experience within the last five years. Relevant experience is defined as developing and executing task and environment specific functional injury control and health/well-being programs for groups of athletes or DoD/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Please note - Employment related to internships or graduate work for only up to one year is considered as relevant experience. Have a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross emblem. Please note - Web-based classes do not meet required standards. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English effectively with Soldiers and H2F staff. Be physically able to lift and manipulate loads and weight plates up to 45 pounds. Candidates must demonstrate sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that they can relate to a variety of Soldiers from diverse backgrounds. Have the ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel. Must be able to navigate and operate with unit SharePoint sites. Must be a U.S. citizen. Candidate must be able to pass and maintain Tier 1 clearance. Minimum Qualifications: Experience providing forward musculoskeletal (MSK) care, early medical intervention, injury prevention (IP) and performance optimization services. Candidates must be physically able to hike in an austere environment and terrain (e.g., rocky, no running water, no shelter, no bathroom, no climate control, inclement weather, loud, smoky, etc.) while carrying their own backpack with necessary supplies on occasion ( Providing forward MSK care in the training environment, outside of the clinical setting, minimizing lost training time and ensuring early identification of injuries. Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Coach Across Americas best-in-class training events. 6. Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth served. The coach will serve as part of She Changes the Game, an initiative by Coach Across America and Monumental Sports & Entertainment to build a DC-based hub of coaches dedicated to growing girls participation in sports. Schedule for January & February Sundays, 1:30-4:30 p.m. (at Gallaudet Model Secondary School; basketball practice; 6 teams). Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (at B&G Club at THEARC; basketball practice; 6 teams). Saturdays, Jan 10 through Feb. 28, game days at two separate locations. Follows School Activity Funds Manual and local school policies involving financial transactions. Establishes procedures for communicating with parents/guardians. Implements appropriate procedures when handling injury situations. Ensures availability of first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times. Inspects facilities, equipment and environmental conditions to ensure the safety of participants. Participates in professional growth activities. Participates in the award program(s) in adherence of school procedures. Provides an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship. Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. The need for safe, positive, and engaging late-night activities for youth was clear. Late Night League was launched to promote wellness and provide a space for safe recreation within Washington, D.C.s Ward 8 community. Building Bridges hosts two eight-week seasons per year with 8-12 teams. The youth division engages ages 14-17 and the young adult division engages 18-24. Coach Role and Responsibilities This Coach Across America AmeriCorps coach will support Building Bridges Late Night League with an emphasis on growing girls participation in basketball. The coach will also support related programs outside of Late Night League including collaboration with on-site partners at THEARC such as the Washington School for Girls (WSG) and their basketball team. WSG engages girls from 3rd -8th grade. Responsibilities will include: Creating strategies and materials to promote and engage local girls in basketball Engagement and recruitment at local schools and recreation centers Facilitating basketball clinics and workshops (schedule to be determined in coordination with coach) Supporting Late Night League games with attendance, registration, and day-of program support Growing girls sports participation at THEARC with a goal of coaching a girls team in Late Night League Collaborating with THEARC partners such as Washington School for Girls and the Boys & Girls Club Developing and administering surveys and other methods of evaluation to gauge participant experience Additionally, the Coach will: Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Coach Across Americas best-in-class training events Perform data collection activities as directed by the Coach Across America Program Lead Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth served The coach will serve as part of She Changes the Game, an initiative by Coach Across America and Monumental Sports & Entertainment to build a DC-based hub of coaches dedicated to growing girls participation in sports.
