MAIN FUNCTION: The Fitness Coach/Personal Trainer is a key member of the Fitness and Wellness Department Team. Must display a concentrated knowledge of specific health and wellness related matters including, but not limited to: creating exercise plans for varying age and ability levels, conducting pre-activity assessments, administering health and fitness focused programming and providing a structured system designed to support and motivate members in their wellness journey. Effectively instructs medically-integrated (Exercise is Medicine) group exercise classes as assigned Proficient with conducting educational presentations and seminars on various health and wellness related topics including the multiple Dimensions of Wellbeing. Committed to providing the best services possible by assuring self and staff maintain current certifications, attending continuing education seminars, and reviewing industry literature. Administrative (Operations) Demonstrates competency in managing and administering client scheduling, client contacts, member tracking software, and managing the My Wellness Cloud Portal (or similar). Contributes to the centers quality assurance practices for all department services to ensure program delivery, as well as the environment, is safe and effective. Able to effectively document client assessments, progress, and achievement and professionally communicate such to members and clients. Management (Customer Relations/Team Performance) Contribute to achieving a consistently excellent member experience resulting in high member satisfaction ratings and low member attrition. First Ascent is looking for an individual with terrific communication skills and initiative who is solution-oriented, and thrives when challenged. This role will receive direction and support from the First Ascent lead coach in Peoria. This is a part-time role with the primary hours on Monday from 5:30 - 8pm and Tuesday/Thursday from 5 - 9pm. The season runs September 1st through June 30th, with the possibility of further work in the summer to motivated and organized individuals. This position requires someone who is inspired to teach youth in a competitive program, who is knowledgeable in climbing, willing to learn, and who is comfortable working with a diverse group of youth, parents, climbers, and route setters. The below responsibilities are subject to change based on the needs of the organization. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the lead coach to execute, and contribute to, a training plan that the team will follow through the 10 month season, September through June. Instruct athletes in team and individual fundamentals, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success. QUALIFICATIONS: * High School level of knowledge of the sport * Required IHSA certification * Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is recommended * Obtain CPR/AED Certification RESPONSIBLE TO: The Head Coach in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Principal. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Administration * Assists in the implementation of the program as outlined by the head coach. Is loyal and supportive even though philosophical differences may exist. * Supportive of the district and the program at all times. * Has thorough knowledge of District athletic policies/procedures and is responsible for the implementation of these policies. * Attend all practices. * Assist the head coach in the issuing, fitting, and monitoring the condition of the equipment used in the sport coached. * Attend staff meetings for the purpose of planning and evaluating the program. * Other job related duties as assigned.
