JOB SUMMARY:
Serve as assistant coach to an assigned sport program while participating in the Graduate Assistantship program at USM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Assist with the conduct, discipline and positive character development of student-athletes by using the guidelines and principles of the USM Mission and the NAIA Champions of Character initiative
* Assist with student-athletes in personal development and academic success
* Teach and promote the USM Mission values of community, respect, justice and excellence
* Assist with the coordination of recruitment of quality student-athletes.
* Perform on field and position coaching duties as determined by the Head Coach
* Assists in inventory management, distribution, and collection of equipment and uniforms
* Works with the Athletic Department in all sport promotions, fundraising, and recruitment efforts
* Assist with USM Athletic Department game and event management
* Perform other job related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's Degree
* 2-3 years related experience
* Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs. and sit or stand for long periods of time.
* Able to work nights and weekends with capabilities to travel

Plans, organizes, and conducts tryouts.
Monitors academic progress of participants and ensures they attend necessary study tables for academic success.
Oversee the upkeep & care of all inventories including wash and care for uniforms and equipment maintenance.
Creates a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of student-athletes.
Ensures the rules and regulations of conduct and eligibility of student-athletes are effectively communicated and followed throughout the year.
Develops relationships with KCPS middle schools to ensure development in order to promote your high school program, Middle School Clinics.
Interacts thoughtfully and respectfully with students, parents, fellow coaches, school personnel, and officials and resolves conflicts in a professional manner.
Professionally represents the school, KCPS, and MHSAA in interactions with students, parents, the community, staff, and the media.
Attends at all KCPS and MHSAA Girls Flag Football coaches' meetings and adherence meetings regarding rules and regulations of the sport of Girls Flag Football.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be familiar with Missouri High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport of Girls Flag Football.
Some sports coaching and/or playing experience.
MHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (can be completed after the hire).
Preferred candidate will work in the school.
