The Peer Recovery Coach will provide non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from high risk of dependent alcohol and drug use problems. Works with a team at a MedStar Health Facility that provides peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment for alcohol or drug dependency and addiction issues. Assists in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment services. Services will be provided in the MedStar Health Facility or ED (Emergency Department) with appropriate follow-up.

Primary Duties:
Acts as peer support throughout the hospitalization and post-discharge, as appropriate to attain goals. Acts as a resource to other clinical team members on recovery support. Assists patients and family with understanding how to utilize these community services. Assists patients in linking to community support services and substance treatment services including securing appointments and transportation.
Completes required documentation and other reports. Notifies patient's nurse before visiting the patient.
Conducts brief interventions to patients that screen positive for alcohol and/or drug use. Consults with nursing staff, social work as requested, even if patient does not screen positive.
Identifies patient's history of drug/alcohol use, treatment history, motivation to change behavior and other needs for community support services. Identifies patient's readiness to change and use motivational interviewing techniques and other communication skills to support a plan for reducing or eliminating harmful drug and/or alcohol use. Models coping techniques and self-help strategies.
Provides family members with recovery support materials. Provides telephone outreach to patients to assist with linkages and continued peer support. Telephones treatment providers to verify patient showed up for an appointment; and follow-up by telephone with any patient that misses an appointment. Works with ED staff and social workers to identify community support services.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with at least three years of personal recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use with no relapses.
Peer Recovery Specialist certification within 180 Days preferred.

Position Summary: Athletic coaches instruct and work with athletes to prepare them for competition. Coaches help athletes to play their best individually or as a team. They are experts on the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sports. Coaches must work closely with their student athletes in areas of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership ensuring that their athletes are disciplined, balanced, caring, risk-takers. Coaches must also know about sports equipment, physical fitness, and safety.
Stipend: The coaches stipend will vary depending on position and number of days per week of activity. Stipends for Head Coaches will range from $1,950 per season to $3,750 per season. Stipends will be paid in one lump sum 30 days after the conclusion of the season. Non-DCI employees will be paid their stipend as contract employees and taxes will not be withheld. DCI staff members will receive their stipends with taxes taken out.

Abilities/Physical Characteristics

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:
Oversee the daily administration and implementation of the strength and conditioning program at the assigned affiliate.
Supervise and instruct all weight training, speed, recovery, and conditioning programs.
Ability to aid, promote, and implement foundational programs in areas including but not limited to sleep, nutrition, prep work, establishing base strength, establishing quality movements, and understanding of training.
Hold players accountable and advance them in strength and movement to build base for their careers within the Orioles' strength and conditioning principles.
Conduct activities outside of the weight room such as activation, prep, and post-game routines.
Manage organizational data within athlete management systems and apps. Complete reports using the data directed by Director of Minor League Strength & Conditioning.
Carry out the organization's performance programs, including VBT, GPS, Force Plates, other technology, and other assessment tools.
Conduct movement and power testing consistently and adhere to the strength and conditioning department's testing guidelines to gauge the program efficacy.
Collaborate and work well with team medical, performance and coaching staff.
Communicate and monitor players' off-season strength and conditioning programs.
Work with the assigned players throughout the championship season, along with pre-season, spring training, and post-season camps occurring at the complex in Sarasota as assigned.
May be required to travel to organizational meetings, seminars, and camps or spring training
