EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is preferred. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience cheering or coaching cheer.

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all sports, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness to students. If working with an injured student-athlete engaged in rehabilitation, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will consult with the athletic training staff. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facilities & equipment, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Prioritize creating a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of student-athletes.
* Design and implements strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all male and female athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices.
* Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program.

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
The work associated with building a competitive program begins well before the season opens in March. Thus, responsibilities of the coaching staff are not limited to the baseball season; as events, season planning, coach and player development, and other factors are involved in the facilitation of a successful program.
The head coach is responsible for the development and leadership of the high school baseball program. The head coach is responsible for the training, execution, and growth of the team on and off of the field. The head coach is also responsible for monitoring the academic progress of their student-athletes, community service and engagement, planning of team travel, management of home games, social media, and overall program presentation. This includes maintaining and submitting academic and behavioral progress reports for student athletes.
The head coach is expected to attend all varsity level baseball events. As the baseball program leader for the entire school, the high school head coach will help ensure that all three teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity, & Freshmen) are properly fielded with student athletes and coaches. The high school head coach will also be expected to develop relationships with their IPS feeder schools to provide guidance at the lower levels.
The head coach may also need to Initiate, coordinate, publicize and supervise fund raising activities, events and competitions.

Responsible along with the Athletic Director for all matters relating to the organization, administration, and philosophy of the sport under his/her direction.

Maintains an accurate and current team & program roster and submits copies to the Athletic Office.
Develops a consistent and positive communications procedure through the school and media to inform the parents and the general public about his/her sport.
Maintains accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.
Arranges for the presentation of team awards through the Athletic Office.
Records, submits, and maintains necessary IHSAA forms and paperwork.
Athletic Behavior/Eligibility Responsibilities
Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
Ensures that no bullying/hazing occurs in his/her sport.
Establishes performance criteria for participation in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.
Checks with the Athletic Office on an individual athlete's eligibility.
Enforces all rules related to his/her sport.
Injury/Safety
Oversees the safety condition of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
Cooperates with the Athletic Director to verify that no participant is issued equipment or allowed to practice until his/her physical examination card has been completed and his/her insurance coverage is in effect.
Enforces rules and regulations concerning the conditioning of players and their health and safety.
Reports injuries to the athletic trainer through personal communication and completing and submitting incident reports to the athletic trainer and Athletic Office.
Exercises great care in dealing with all injuries and particularly those that are of a serious nature. In all cases, the coach should assure that the injured athlete is receiving competent medical care. Following injuries of a serious or prolonged nature, the coach should secure the signed approval of the doctor and parent before the athlete is allowed to participate again in athletic activities.
Provides supervision of all athletes until they have left the building and/or site.
Ensures that all windows, doors, and gates are locked in any area that has been used.
Team Activities
Plans all practice sessions and competitions, and supervises out-of-season conditioning program.
Ensures a positive environment free of hazing, harassment, bullying, and intimidating language and behaviors.
Plans and executes special events such as assemblies, Senior/Parent Night, team meals, awards banquet, other special recognition, etc.
