Position Overview:
Benton Central Jr.-Sr. High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head Football Coach to lead our football program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes, promote sportsmanship and integrity, and uphold the mission and values of Benton Central Athletics.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the high school football program.
Develop and implement a comprehensive off-season and in-season training program.
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches within the football staff.
Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, faculty, and the community.
Teach and emphasize discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success.
Coordinate the use and care of football facilities and equipment.
Ensure compliance with all IHSAA, school, and conference rules and regulations.
Collaborate with lower-level coaches (junior high and youth programs) to create continuity and alignment within the program.
Monitor player eligibility, academic progress, and personal conduct.
Represent Benton Central Athletics in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
Indiana Teaching License
Previous successful head coaching or coordinator experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Knowledge of current coaching techniques, trends, and safety protocols.
Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes both on and off the field.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Indiana teaching license or ability to meet IHSAA coaching certification requirements.
Completion of NFHS and IHSAA-mandated coaching courses (Concussion, Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Protecting Students Against Abuse, and Football Tackling).
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.

At the same time, the assistant coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
GENERAL:
1. The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community's image of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health.
2. The position includes other unusual aspect such as extended time, risk injury factor and due process predicaments.
3. It is the express intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance to function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Southeast Dubois County School Corporation's Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
2. Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements same consistently and interprets them for staff.
3. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program.
2. Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy.
3. Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation and, at season's end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants.
4. Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation.
5. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principal.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
1. Assists the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
2. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
3. Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
4. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
5. Advises the athletic director and recommends policy, method or procedural changes.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
2. Gives constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.
3. By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant.
4. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
5. Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
6. Completes paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic office within 24 hours.
7. Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians.
8. Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
9. Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
FINANCE AND EQUIPMENT:
1. Participates in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the next season. Recommends equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications.
Is responsible for operating within budget appropriations.
2. Is accountable for all equipment and collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records concerning same.
3. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
4. Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizes who may enter, issue or requisition equipment.
5. Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
6. Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
7. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
8. Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
1. Assists with organizing parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings.
2. Assists with promoting the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program and promotes the sport outside the school through news media or in any other feasible manner.
3. Assists with providing quality, effective, oral or written communication released to local media.
4. Assists the head coach with maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
5. Assists with providing information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments and results.

Job Summary
The Official is a critical role in any sports field; responsible for enforcing rules while also cultivating a positive culture, acting as an on-field coach, and advocating for the programs. This role has a direct impact on players, coaches, and spectators each and every game day.
Responsibilities
Understand & enforce the i9 Sports rules books ensuring a fun, learning, and safety for all players
Teach & demonstrate core concepts including Sportsmanship values
Keep time and score during the game; manage an age-appropriate level of instruction and competition
Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude and superior customer service skills
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills
Sport-specific officiating, playing, or coaching experience
Highly motivated self-starter; can work independently & solve problems
Awareness & ability to take charge of any situation to ensure the safety of players
Positive attitude and a strong ability to build professional relationships
Ability to work a varied work schedule including weekends and some evenings (for the full duration of the season, ~7 weeks)
Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
