After School Basketball Coach 6th Grade Company: Mindful Roots
Type: Part-Time, Seasonal (December 8 February 25)
Schedule: Wednesdays 1:30-5:30pm | Mon, Tues, or Thurs 2:45-3:15pm

About Mindful Roots: Mindful Roots provides high-energy sports classes for elementary and middle schools. The Role:
Mindful Roots is seeking a passionate and responsible After School Basketball Coach to lead our 6th grade boys and girls basketball teams. This is a hands-on role where youll coach joint practices, lead game-day activities, and create an inclusive, fun, and safe environment for all players.
Key Responsibilities:
Coach both boys and girls teams during one joint weekly practice and two games on game days.
Teach basketball fundamentals, game strategy, and sportsmanship.
Ensure all players receive fair playing time and are engaged throughout the session.
Supervise students on and off the court, including traveling on the team bus for away games and confirming safe pick-up by parents.
Set up, transport, and store all basketball equipment for practices and games.
Maintain punctuality and commit to the full 10-week session.
Schedule:
Practices: 2:454:15 PM, one day per week (your choice of either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
Game Days: Wednesdays, 1:305:30 PM (4 hours of work).
Sessions coincide with the school year; holidays off.
Qualifications:
Prior experience coaching youth basketball preferred.
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategy.
Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full season.
Must be able to travel with the team to games and manage student safety.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from your assigned school site.

* Attending all practices, trips and scheduled competitions including evenings and weekends. Head coaches must travel with their teams unless unusual circumstances arise and this must be cleared with the Athletic Director.
* Practices/Games/Travel: Head Coaches are responsible for their team rules and informing students of behavioral expectations and consequences during practices, games, and travel. -Coaches are expected to report behavioral problems to the Athletic Director.
* Prepare the staff and each team member for competition. The Head Coach will maintain self-control, provide a model of sportsmanlike conduct in relation to players, officials, staff, spectators and the opponents, in accordance with conference and CCCAA guidelines and rules.
* Maintaining adequate records, statistics, scores, etc. of game results and student athletes' participation records and accomplishments. In addition, the Head Coach will promote the student-athlete's accomplishments when appropriate for awards and recognition.

1. Education:
* Associate degree and 6 years coaching experience or 4 year degree and 2 years coaching experience.

* Bachelor degree from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Education with an emphasis in Physical Education, Physiology of Exercise, or Adaptive Physical Education ANDwith 2 years professional experience;

* Master's degree in any Life Science, Dance, Physiology, Health Education, Recreation Administration, or Physical Therapy ANDwith related professional experience;

HOURS
Saturday availability is required.
Expect to work between 2 to 6 hours per week. Additional hours during the week will be required for online administrative tasks such as coach evaluations, Slack and email communications, lesson material reviews, training, and monthly coach meetings, which will take around 2-3 hours per month. Must be available to attend mandatory coach meetings on the first Thursday of each month.
HOURLY SALARY
Start strong with a competitive $18-$19 hour for entry-level coaches. Administrative and off-field tasks are compensated at $15/hour.
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18+ and a high school graduate.
Love working with kids and bringing high energy to every class.
Commit to at least 4 months of Saturday coaching (occasional Sundays if needed).
Must be available for the dates below.
Be comfortable leading independently and communicating with parents and administrative staff.
Reliable transportation to the field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in coaching, playing, refereeing soccer, babysitting, nannying, or teaching is a plus!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must demonstrate the physical capabilities of:
Stay active with the ability to remain upright, reach, squat, kneel, run, and move dynamically during coaching sessions.
Independently rise from a seated position to engage effectively in childcare activities.

The Role:
Mindful Roots is seeking a passionate and responsible After School Soccer Coach to lead our 6th grade girls basketball teams. This is a hands-on role where youll coach joint practices, lead game-day activities, and create an inclusive, fun, and safe environment for all players.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead one practice a week and coach one game per week.
Teach soccer fundamentals, game strategy, and sportsmanship.
Ensure all players receive fair playing time and are engaged throughout the session.
Supervise students on and off the court, including traveling on the team bus for away games and confirming safe pick-up by parents.
Set up, transport, and store all soccer equipment for practices and games.
Maintain punctuality and commit to the full 10-week session.
Schedule:
Practices: 2:454:15 PM, one day per week (your choice of either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
Game Days: Wednesdays, 1:305:30 PM (4 hours of work).
Sessions coincide with the school year; holidays off.
Qualifications:
Prior experience coaching youth soccer preferred.
Strong understanding of soccer fundamentals and strategy.
Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full season.
Must be able to travel with the team to games and manage student safety.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from your assigned school site.
