The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Athletic Department as the Boys Varsity Assistant Golf Coach - Playoffs Only. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school's goals towards building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. We believe that a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are necessary to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and families; we encourage diversity in our applicant pool. The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls, the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant to determine options that best suit each student-athlete's journey. The Boys Varsity Assistant Golf Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach throughout the spring playoff stretch, including planning and leading practices, coaching matches, and transporting the team to off-campus sites in a school vehicle. At Bush, boys golf is a split-season sport, with regular season play in the fall and postseason competition (conference and state championships) in the spring. In collaboration with the Athletic Department and Head Golf Coach, the Playoff Coach will support and prepare 8 to 10 boys golf student-athletes who have qualified for postseason play. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director. The golf spring playoff season begins on Monday, April 6, 2026, and continues through the conclusion of the state tournament on May 20, 2026. Practices are held Monday through Thursday between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. and will not exceed two hours per day. Practices typically take place at Jefferson Park Golf Course and other local golf courses. Coaches generally meet athletes on campus, travel together to the practice or match site, and return to Bush at the end of the day. There is the possibility of being retained on the coaching staff for the 2026-27 school year, which includes regular season play in the fall and postseason competition in the spring. While other duties may be assigned, qualified candidates will be able to manage the following key responsibilities and tasks: Provide a positive, inclusive, safe, and challenging experience for participants Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, training methods, and safety practices Communicate with athletic department staff effectively and promptly Attend meetings and trainings scheduled by the Athletic Director Handle student health forms with confidentiality, be aware of individual health concerns, and respond appropriately to medical needs. About You Required High school diploma or equivalent. * A minimum of 2 years of experience playing, instructing, or coaching pickleball at a competitive or professional level, preferably in a club or sports facility setting. * A minimum of 1 year of experience conducting group pickleball clinics, private lessons, or instructional programs for players of varying skill levels, including juniors and adults. * A minimum of 1 year of experience organizing and running social events for members. * A recognized certification from a reputable pickleball organization (e.g., PPA, USPTA, or PTR). Preferred * A college degree or equivalent. * Strong experience with ROGY programs. * Strong experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a sports or recreation environment, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional member/guest service. * Strong experience in promoting pickleball programs, lessons, and memberships to help drive engagement and participation. * Demonstrated ability to work well with people of all ages and abilities, demonstrating strong communication and relationship-building skills. Physical Requirements * Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving. * Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases. * Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending. * Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion. * Talking, hearing, and seeing.
