Informed by a philosophy of nonviolence, Nonviolence Chicago will establish caring and sustained relationships with participants engaged in the cycle of violence. POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Associate Director of Reentry & Support Services, the SC2 Life Coach works directly with high-risk individuals in the community and accompanies them as they navigate the challenges associated to current or past involvement with the criminal justice system, work to establish a healthy and stable lifestyle, and overcome barriers to accomplishing their professional goals. This position not only provides services and resources to help achieve established goals, but also uses first-hand knowledge of the community to develop and maintain meaningful and effective relationships with participants, responds in the community as crises arise and draws out participant motivation to reach his/her potential. The SC2 Life Coach models prosocial behaviors and successful interpersonal relationships, provides the accountability necessary to achieving established goals, and mentors participants as they receive supportive services and attend court dates. As such, this role is a critical component of the long-term success of the SC2 Austin Collaborative. Responsibilities: * Assist the head coach in teaching football fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship. * Supervise student-athletes during practices, travel, and related events. * Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practices, games (home and away), and team functions. * Support the head coach in planning practices, game management, and conducting skill instruction. * Monitor and enforce all eligibility, safety, and conduct requirements as established by IHSA, the school, and district policies. * Chaperone and supervise athletes at all football events (including practices, games, community gatherings, etc.), maintaining discipline and promoting a positive team environment. * Maintain a safe environment and report injuries promptly to appropriate staff. * Complete required paperwork, attendance logs, and communicate with parents and administration as needed. * Attend coach meetings and required professional development as assigned by the athletic department. Additional Expectations: * Availability to work in the off season * Assist with equipment management, set-up, and breakdown for practices and meets * Attend community events (such as parades, fundraisers, etc.) * Foster academic achievement, positive citizenship, and school spirit among student-athletes. * Complete required first aid, CPR, and district coaching certifications as required by ISBE/IHSA and adhere to all training expectations. Appropriately use a whistle during games. Make calls that are consistent and correct with the laws of soccer. Move about the field to keep up with play to make appropriate calls.
