Head Strength and Conditioning Coach REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will program and provide year-long sport specific workout routines for all athletics teams at Eureka College. Utilizing the weight room, turf field, and gym the focus of this position is to maximize player performance on the field or court, as well as focus on injury prevention and student-athlete well-being.
* Create sport specific in-season and off-season workouts for all athletic teams at the College.
* Create effective warm-u and stretching routines to maximize performance and prevent injuries.
* Collaborate with all Head Coaches to incorporate specific needs and focal points for areas of improvement in the off-season.
* Collaborate with all Head Coaches to set up a calendar for team workouts to be as organized and efficient as possible around other sports' schedules.
* Collaborate with the Athletic Training team to best create programming
* Maintain and clean and organized weight room.
* Demonstrate and explain proper lifting techniques and form to prevent injury and maximize results.
* Create and enforce weight room rules to maintain a safe environment for all students.
* Supervise and work with strength and conditioning interns.
* Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist with the supervision, care for, and inventory of equipment and facility.
* Maintain effective working relationships within the athletic department team and the College as a whole in order to contribute to the overall success of all athletic programs.
* Positively lead and contribute as a member of the Athletic Department both internally, around the college, and to external groups.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
This position may have some oversight of student workers.
EDUCATION:
Essential: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university.
Desirable: Master's degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Significant experience creating strength and conditioning programs for both athletic performance as well as injury prevention athletes that are sport specific. Experience working with sports that Eureka offers such as: Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Football, Cross Country/Distance, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, and Softball.
Desirable: Experience working with strength and conditioning in the college setting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver's license. CPR/AED, and First Aid certification. An active NCAA-approved strength and conditioning certification is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position may also require pitching batting practice, hitting infield/outfield to players and other sports-specific physical tasks. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work is routinely performed outdoors, but also in office environments and in gyms, and other recreational environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Off campus travel is required.

* Forewarn all participants that involvement in physical confrontation could result in removal from game and/or suspension from subsequent games.
Personnel Management
* Assist athletic director and principal in hiring assistant coaches.
* Train and inform staff, encourage professional growth by urging them to attend clinics and workshops.
* Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, and at season's end, analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate all assistants
School/Community Relations
* Establish a working relationship with the junior high and elementary coaches for the purpose of creating strong feeder programs for their sport.
Professional Development
* Continue professional growth by attending classes, clinics, workshops, and affiliations with professional organizations.
EVALUATION
This position is evaluated annually by the principal with input from the athletic director using the categories listed in the job description. This is a year-round position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the lead coach to execute, and contribute to, a training plan that the team will follow through the 10 month season, September through June.

Work with competitive youth climbers aged 6-18
Regular communication with the lead coach to ensure any concerns or issues are addressed in a timely manner

* Works collaboratively with other grade level coach within the sport.
* Arrives prior to athletes and is prepared for all scheduled practices/meets; and remains until all student athletes are in custody of a parent/guardian prior to leaving all practices/events for this sport.
* Assumes the position of the other grade level sport coach if the situation is necessitated.
* Creates, with athletic director approval, a set of team rules and guidelines that are to be signed off on by athletes and parents prior to first official contest and a copy given to building administrator.
Communication
* Conducts parent informational meeting at start of season, prior to first official contest.
* Communicates with athletic director on a frequent basis.
* Creates a mandatory emergency contact information sheet and shares with athletic director and building administration prior to first contest.
* Ensures that all athletes and parents have necessary season practice/meet schedules.
* Communicates with all parties when schedules necessitate a change.
* Communicates with other coaches within the building, and within the sport at other levels.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
