They use their lived experience with substance use recovery to provide strengths-based, person-centered support to individuals in rural communities. They offer empathy, understanding, and encouragement, aiming to motivate positive change and sustained recovery. Recovery coaching may involve goal setting, coping strategies, re-entry support, and assistance in accessing relevant resources. It may also involve transporting individuals to treatment and recovery related services, and to access community resources that build recovery capital. Based at the Full Circle Recovery Community Center in Council Bluffs, this role involves frequent outreach and service provision in satellite offices and rural locations, helping individuals initiate and sustain long-term recovery through peer support, advocacy, mentoring, and resource connection.
