Bellevue East High School is accepting applications for an assistant cheer coach. Primary Function The Head Coach provides leadership and organization for all aspects of the Sport program, including monitoring both the academic and social development of the student-athletes; observing, evaluating and recruiting student-athletes; developing a schedule for competition; and directing Assistant Coaching staff. Coaching Duties Recruits talent and academically eligible athletes in a professional manner. Teaches fundamentals of the sport and assesses the skill level of the Student-Athlete to achieve maximum athletic performance. Coordinates conditioning with Head Athletic Trainer. Supervises Assistant Coaching Staff. Plans practice schedules and activities. Coordinates season schedules with Athletic Director. Evaluates opposing teams to develop match strategies. Assesses athlete skills and assigns weight classes and team positions. Ensures full compliance with all NAIA, conference, and institutional eligibility standards; collaborates with the Compliance Officer to monitor eligibility and report rule violations. Maintains accurate recruiting records in the university's athletics management system and adheres to NAIA recruiting standards and contact rules. Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Administrative Duties Maintains control of budget. Develops Fund Raising activities. Orders equipment, supplies, and directs staff in keeping a complete inventory. Tracks student-athlete's progress in the classroom to ensure graduation. Plans travel arrangements with staff for away competitions. Attends required Heart of America Conference Meetings. Reviews sport rules and regulations per both the NAIA and Heart of America annually. Actively engages alumni, community partners, and campus stakeholders to promote the wrestling program and support departmental initiatives. Conducts performance evaluations for assistant coaches and encourages ongoing professional development. Marginal Duties Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two (2) years successful competitive coaching experience required; coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach techniques associated with sport. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to represent the interests of the University in a professional manner. Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to supervise assigned staff. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Ability to motivate and contribute to building a positive and productive team. Requires the ability to maintain strict level of confidentiality in the handling of student's academic records and health information. Ability to travel and work a varying schedule to meet competition and recruiting needs. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. Valid driver's license with good driving record to be insured by the University's insurance carrier. Working Conditions Frequently stands, walks, bends, and other movements for long periods of time.
