Primary Purpose:
The RLA Instructional Coach reports directly to the Dean of Instruction (direct supervisor) and forms part of the support provided by the RLA department to the teacher. The RLA Instructional Coach is responsible for ensuring quality instruction is being delivered at their assigned campuses, following the ILTexas curriculum and program model. They support teachers in the design and implementation of quality lessons. An effective RLA Instructional Coach will spend the majority of their time on classroom coaching with teachers (planning, demonstration, observation, co-teaching and study of lessons) while also supporting related professional development and data to action plans.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
Master's degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate in content endorsement preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Must possess demonstrated evidence of leadership responsibilities beyond those required in the classroom.
Knowledge of biliteracy, DLI programs, curriculum, instructional best practices, and adult learning theories.
Knowledge of second language acquisition theories and reading instruction preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Staff Development
1. Work cooperatively with all dean, area academic director and subject matter experts to mutually support the common mission of ILTexas.
2. Assist all teachers in the Area that teach in assigned content.
3. Advances teacher's deep understanding and use of content knowledge and research-based instructional strategies to help students meet rigorous academic standards.
4. Provides classroom-based support for implementation of new and/or refined instructional practices.
5. Facilitates vertical alignment and planning across grade level PLCs.
6. In conjunction with District Area Academic Coordinator, create structures and processes for collaborative work that promote collegiality and shared responsibility.
7. Models use of effective collaboration skills.
8. Assures that time available for professional learning and collaboration is used to enhance quality teaching and student learning.
9. Engages teachers in data analysis and interpretation of data from multiple sources to determine student and teacher needs.
10. Assist in the structure and design for high-quality, school- and team-based professional learning that supports teacher and student learning.
11. Articulates the intended results of professional learning on teacher practice and student achievement.
12. Facilitates the analysis of student achievement and teacher professional development data to determine the impact on student learning and teacher practice.
13. Increases teachers' capacity to analyze research to make instructional decisions.
14. Advances teachers' understanding and use of various strategies to assess student progress toward established goals and to improve teaching practice.
15. Acts as a resource to support job-embedded professional learning and improved academic achievement in the school.

COACH. This coach should be able to step in on day 1 & work with anyone. We have classes for 7-11 year olds, 12-14 year olds, 15-18 year olds, & adults. We have 100+ one on one clients doing personal training & these athletes range from 7 years old to currently playing in the NFL. You can't have an ego around who you work with & must LOVE coaching everyone.
A Day In The Life Of A D1 Coach:
You wake up, excited to help athletes accomplish their goals. You arrive at our facility equipped with a world class weight room & an indoor turf field. You walk into the facility that has produced hundreds of NFL draft picks, thousands of college scholarships, tens of thousands of athletes who trained towards a goal & accomplished it (because of you - their coach).
You are greeted by a team of 10+ world class A-Players, all fun & friendly, but also competitive & performance driven. You look at your schedule for the day & you like that you are on pace to end the week at the top of the coaching 1 on 1 leaderboard.
You coach an adult class with ages 18-60 years old, 15-34 people in attendance. You prepped the turf & weight room to make sure you are good to go, you ensure the workout is on the white board, you have your whistle ready, & you get to work. You lead a dynamic warm up on the turf followed by an intense class with people transitioning between turf & weight room. You use your whistle, crank up the music, organize people, demo movements, & ensure a world class product. You end the 54-minute workout with an announcement & break down.
After this you have a few 1 on 1 clients to work with. An 8 year old soccer player who has never played followed by a 17 year old football player training for college. You write the programming, you schedule the client, you show up to coach, & you ensure a world class product.
You end the day with a scholastic class with ages 12-14 years old. You do exactly what you did with the adult workout from the morning…you provide a world class product.
You end the day with a message from a 1 on 1 client who lets you know that they just accomplished the goal that they set when you started training together 3 months earlier…you provided a world class product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist the campus athletic coordinator and head football coach with the operation and management of the high school football program and the middle school feeder pattern.
Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media to promote individual growth in football fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship to improve the abilities of student-athletes in the football program.
Assist the head football coach in the areas of supervision and leadership of the professional football staff.
Establish performance criteria for competition. Regularly evaluate and assess students' athletic abilities for successful performance of fundamental football skills.
Assist with the coordination of daily administrative support, statistical analysis and opponent preparation in the development of the weekly game plan during the season.
Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the coaching program and make changes as needed based on findings.
Assist the campus athletic coordinator/head football coach with the care and maintenance of all campus athletic fields, facilities and equipment including the cleaning/sanitizing, repairing and storage of equipment. Make recommendations for repair and replacement when appropriate.
Keep informed and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.
Monitor and enforce UIL/CFISD student eligibility criteria for athletic participation. Promote scholastic excellence in the football program.
Work with the athletic coordinator/head football coach to schedule athletic competitions and coordinate travel arrangements.
Instruct and advise students on NCAA rules and regulations with regard to academic requirements/eligibility for scholarships and recruiting practices.
Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions and in the school environment in accordance with the CFISD student code of conduct and the student handbook.
Encourage by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Establish and maintain open communication with all stakeholders.
Work with the head football coach and the football staff to maximize the performance of all participants in the middle school feeder pattern.
