JOB SUMMARY: The Mentor Coach is responsible to support and expand early educator's knowledge on early childhood education best practices as well as increase knowledge of the tools and resources used by KCAO Head Start/Child Development through coaching, training and technical assistance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * In collaboration with Education Services, review and update annually the education service area plan in cooperation with staff and parents. * Conduct regular site visits and develops meaningful, productive relationships with site directors and teaching staff. * Coach and guide staff through the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and education. * Provide staff with support and strategies for challenging behaviors. * Provide technical assistance, support, materials, and equipment to staff working with children including children with special needs. * Recruit and develop contracts with mental health consultants for Head Start service requirements. * Provide initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to staff including but not limited to: CLASS, Creative Curriculum, DRDP, ECERS, CSEFEL and other tools used within the program. * Conduct CLASS observations as required by Head Start Performance Standards * Plan and implement professional development opportunities such as learning communities and onsite trainings based on best practices, Head Start Performance Standards * In collaboration with Education Services team, conduct ECERS observations according to the timeline that is * Support school readiness programming with assigned teaching staff. * Conduct observations within classrooms and provides on-site consultation to teaching staff. * Perform other duties as required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field from a recognized college or university; AND * At least two (2) years of experience as a Supervisor in a child development, or similar, program; AND * Current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or obtain within 6 months of employment; AND * Must have 6 units in Infant and Toddler Development.
