    RECOVERY COACH - CORRECTIONS FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: FULL CIRCLE RECOVERY CORRECTIONS RECOVERY COACHING PROGRAM (CRCP) REPORTS TO: CRCP Director DIRECT REPORT(S): N/A POSITION OVERVIEW: The corrections recovery coach plays a crucial role in providing peer recovery support services (PRSS) and supporting individuals with opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders in various corrections settings. The person in this position draws from their own lived experiences of overcoming addiction and incarceration to connect with and inspire individuals undergoing similar challenges. They offer empathy, understanding, and encouragement, aiming to motivate positive change and sustained recovery. Recovery coaching may involve goal setting, coping strategies, re-entry support, and assistance in accessing relevant resources, all within the context of the unique challenges present in a corrections environment. Consistent and reliable attendance is essential in this role due to the scheduling needs of correctional facilities, the needs of the population served, and the requirements and time-sensitive nature of grant-funded programming. The corrections recovery coach must agree to adhere to a confidentiality agreement and demonstrate passion for Full Circle's mission and core values, including the concept of ensuring that recovery comes first. This is a non-exempt position and is based on a 40-hour work week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Peer Support and Mentorship Offer peer recovery support services, including recovery coaching, to individuals in corrections settings and/or who are justice involved and dealing with opioid use and other substance use challenges. Practice appropriate self-disclosure of personal recovery experiences to inspire and motivate individuals to seek positive change. Assessment and Goal Setting Utilize and implement evidence-based practices to determine individual needs to assist with goal setting. Collaborate with individuals to set realistic and achievable recovery goals. Collect and enter data into the organization's data system, assist with reporting and continuous program improvement. Individualized Recovery Plans Develop individualized recovery plans tailored to each person's unique circumstances and goals. Provide guidance on accessing relevant resources and services while incarcerated and upon release. Support and encourage multiple pathways of recovery, including harm reduction strategies. Advocacy and Education Advocate for the rights and well-being of individuals with substance misuse or mental health challenges within the corrections system. Educate individuals on available treatment options, recovery resources, coping strategies, and self-advocacy. Collaboration with Providers Coordinate with healthcare professionals, counselors, and providers to ensure a holistic approach to recovery. Maintain collaborative relationships with corrections staff and providers to provide the most meaningful and effective peer recovery support services for recoverees. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and progress. Prepare reports on individual outcomes and contribute to program evaluation. Re-entry Planning Assist individuals in developing reentry plans that address housing, employment, and ongoing support post-release. Connect individuals with community resources to enhance their chances of successful reintegration, including peer recovery support services at the Full Circle Recovery Community Centers. Self-Care and Professional Development Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about best practices in recovery coaching on topics such as ethics, boundaries, communication skills, recovery principles, and understanding of addiction and multiple pathways of recovery. Practice self-care to maintain personal well-being and resilience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Personal experience with substance use disorder, mental health conditions, recovery, and/or justice system involvement preferred. Knowledge of, or personal experience with, recovery systems, medication-assisted treatment, multiple pathways of recovery, harm reduction, criminal justice systems, person-centered approaches, and peer recovery support services preferred. Relevant education or experience working with individuals in recovery from substance misuse and/or mental health conditions preferred. Knowledge of community resources and referral sources preferred. Must agree to complete the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy, Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches, and Recovery Coaching in Justice Settings within six months of hire. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with individuals in corrections settings. Ability to listen empathetically and provide support without judgment. Demonstrated empathy and cultural competency to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Skills in conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies to assist with challenging situations that may arise in a corrections setting. Knowledge of and commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality. Must be a self-starter with strong initiative, an independent thinker, and a collaborative team member. Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and partnerships simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom), and data management. Valid driver's license, good driving record, car insurance, and reliable transportation. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a typical office or administrative environment as well as at partner organizations in the community. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Driving, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, talking, hearing, grasping and finger dexterity, repetitive motions. Sitting approximately 50 percent of the time. Standing approximately 20 percent of the time. Walking approximately 20 percent of the time. Driving approximately 10 percent of the time. Requires the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force continuously. Up to 50 pounds of force infrequently to lift or otherwise move objects. Assuring necessary medical attention while working with Trainer on prevention and rehabilitation programs. Determining the needs of his/her program for budgeting. Establish and enforce all regulations of Marion Independent Schools, the IHSAA and/or the IGHSAU, including informing the participants of these policies (Good Conduct, transportation regulations, etc.). Promote his/her activity through announcements, newsletters, etc. Conducting self in a sportsmanlike manner while modeling and promoting the high ideals of sportsmanship with staff and team. Communicate throughout the year with the Activities Director in regards to program development, staff and team. Provide leadership and program development for a sequential 7-12 program in his/her activity. Promote the sport within youth programs (encouraged). Informing the participants of lettering and special award criteria and informing the Activities Office which athletes receive these awards. Aiding the Activities Director in the establishment of a schedule. Continuous development, improvement, and evaluation of Assistant Coaches (9-12). Attending clinics and reading literature to stay abreast of changes in activity. Supply the Activities Director with the forms, team information, season summary and statistics in order for them to run the department effectively and efficiently. Act as the historian for the sport collecting and updating individual and team records. Communicate with the administration, faculty, Activities Director, parents, students, and staff members in an effort to have an effective and efficient Activities Department. Model the highest level of integrity and ethical behavior. Know the rules of your sport. Develop philosophies that guide program development.
