DEFINITION
The Coach will instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In conjunction with the Varsity Coach conduct a preseason meeting with parents/guardians and players to discuss acceptable player behavior, practice procedures, substance abuse policy and other guidelines that relate to program management
Establish procedures for parent/guardian communication on scheduling, transportation and playing time
Determine the system of play, establish goals and objectives
Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, and at season's end, with Athletic Director evaluate the effectiveness of the program and any assistant coaches
Report all rule violations or suspected violations to the Athletic Director
Promote and encourage fair play, good sportsmanship, and ethical standards of conduct both on and off the field
Work to develop positive athlete-coach relationship
Has thorough knowledge of school athletic policies and is responsible for the implementation of those policies
Conducts oneself in a manner that exemplifies Christian character and the promotion of good sportsmanship
Other duties as assigned.

Representative Duties:
* Responsible for management of all phases of the men's track & field program which includes recruiting, training, practicing, competition, scheduling, game-day preparation, fundraising, travel and adhering to and enforcement of all policies and procedures of the CCCAA, PCAC and the SBCCD.
* Provide leadership and instruction in the academic, athletic and personal development of the student athlete.
* Promote the academic progress of the student athlete by working closely with the counseling staff.
* Work collaboratively with in selection, purchase, and maintenance of the team equipment and supplies.
* Support the sports medicine staff to ensure student athletes welfare.
* Provide daily direction to assistant coaches and promote and atmosphere of compliance.
* Assist athletes in academic and athletic preparation for transfer to four-year universities.
* Promote San Bernardino Valley College athletics in the community and develop and maintain a close working professional relationship with local high school coaches.
* Help resolve student-athlete issues including providing encouragement and support for student athletes
* Assist with sports clinics, camps, tournaments, races and/or charity games.
* Coach practices and both traditional and non-traditional games.
* Attend and participate in some local coaches' meetings, staff and conference meetings, state coaches' meetings, and coaching clinics; maintain membership and participate in meetings at the local and state coaches' associations.
* Provide the Sports Information Specialist the statistics for all tournaments and other off site contests as needed.
* Give input on the performance of each referee after each game for the referee evaluation as needed.
* Provide the necessary documentation for the reimbursement of out- of- pocket expenses.
* Maintain office hours and participate in department/division meetings.
Education:
Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.
A minimum of two years of experience coaching high school and/or college age Track & Field as part of a club or team.
Demonstrated sensitivity to, understanding of, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, religious, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

You coach an adult class with ages 18-60 years old, 10-24 people in attendance. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly adjunct positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. The Head Coach and/or Athletic Director will determine amount of coaching stipend for Assistant Coach assignment, not to exceed $7,000.
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants' positions as Adjunct Head Coach, Men's Water Polo.
Representative Duties:
* Perform additional working hours, which may include the breaks (spring, summer and winter), weekends, and evenings.
* Take and pass the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) exam.
* Make recommendations for the hiring of assistant coach(es).
* Organize and execute an aggressive scouting and recruiting program of local and regional high school student athletes and out-of-state student athletes; actively participate and support high school visitations; establish individual contacts with athletes and parent/ guardians; follow-up correspondence/emails; lead campus tours for prospective student athletes.
* Scout opponent teams.
* Direct current and prospective student athletes to the appropriate resource to ensure their success (i.e. admissions office, financial aid office, tutoring centers, athletic counselor).
* Monitor that student-athletes get grade checks completed by professors and turned in to the coaches in a timely manner.
* Assist in maintaining accurate records of any required physical exam documentation and injury records for the student-athletes.
* Assist the Athletic Trainer in the monitoring player injuries and rehabilitation.
* Maintain contact with 4 year schools about current student athletes.
* Resolve student-athlete issues including providing encouragement and support for student athletes, administer appropriate discipline and, if necessary dismiss players for misconduct.
* Submit requests for transportation, meals, and lodging for trips.
* Conduct sports clinics, camps, tournaments, races and/or charity games.
* Coach practices and both traditional and non-traditional games.
* Attend and participate in conference meetings for both regional and state conferences, and playoffs.
* Attend and participate in local coaches' meetings, staff and conference meetings, state coaches' meetings, and coaching clinics; maintain membership and participate in meetings at the local and state coaches' associations.
* Provide the Sports Information Specialist the statistics for all tournaments and other off-site contests.
* Give input on the performance of each referee after each game for the referee evaluation.
* Provide leadership in articulating the athletic program to the Governing Board, administration, community, fellow faculty, and students.
* Provide the necessary documentation for the reimbursement of out- of- pocket expenses.
* Present timely home-game schedules and venue needs to the appropriate manager, for subsequent submission by the manager to Maintenance & Operations.
* Make recommendations for the order of uniforms and equipment each year.
Education:
Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience
OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.
