Appointment Scheduler
The Appointment Scheduler is responsible for the scheduling of patient appointments and obtaining demographic and insurance information.
Responsibilities:
Answer incoming calls within a timely manner and professional manner
Schedules, reschedules and cancels appointments accurately
Obtains and documents in the patient's chart accurate patient demographic and insurance information from the patient or patient representative at the time appointment is scheduled
Obtains and documents in patient's chart, any information relevant to the patient to ensure adequate care can be provided through all practice levels
Completes all necessary procedures in regards to scheduling, rescheduling and/or canceling appointments accurately
Transfer calls to the appropriate department
Guides patients to appropriate resources for further information
Retrieves voicemail, interoffice communications and work log tasks on a regular basis
Returns all calls in a timely manner associated with voicemail, interoffice communication and work log tasks
Coordinates the need for work-ins with Clinic Director
May collect fees for balances due on account
Performs other functionally related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Graduation from High School or equivalent
Office setting and computer experience preferred; medical experience preferred
Orthopedic or outpatient rehab setting experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience or interest in quality, education, and departmental development initiatives.

What You'll Do:
Timely and accurately completes assigned tasks which include: triaging of incoming calls, working task logs, scheduling appointments (surgical procedures, pre-operative testing, physical therapy and imaging), handling medication refill request and performing other administrative duties as assigned.
Coordinates all aspects of surgery scheduling to include pre-operative testing, cardiac/medical clearances, patient education, equipment needs and post-operative care. Works closely with the insurance department to ensure proper authorization is obtained. Arranges transportation and interpretation services for patients, when appropriate.
Facilitates the coordination of care with outside referring physicians, ASC's, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, physical therapy centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, imaging centers and supply vendors.
Properly routes all diagnostic test results, medication requests and other pertinent patient information to the physician in a timely, accurate manner utilizing the PAQ. Urgent results requiring immediate attention need handled accordingly.
Calls in medication requests and refills to the pharmacies as needed paying close attention to name, dosage and SIG. Obtains authorization for the prescription, as needed. Communicates with the front office staff on medication requests and patient pick-ups.
What Your Qualifications Should Be:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred.
CPR certification (or ability to obtain within three months of hire).
Experience with EHR systems (NextGen preferred) and knowledge of basic surgical techniques.

Calls in medication requests and refills to the pharmacies as needed paying close attention to name, dosage and SIG. Obtains authorization for the prescription, as needed. Communicates with the front office staff on medication requests and patient pick-ups.

Summary of Position
Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery.
Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure.
Assess patients' post-operative condition.
Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria.
Log all findings in patient files.

Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies.
Qualifications:
Current Florida Registered Nurse license and BCLS & ACLS certification required.
Candidate must possess general clinical competency in acute patient care
Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping patient flow to two hour or less stay in post-operative care.
Candidate must demonstrate ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care.
Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in empirical & practical perioperative nursing.
Advanced knowledge in critical care practice of nursing.
