2005

D. Jeff van Steenbergen has been a member of the Board since our inception in November 2005 and is a member of our Compensation and Audit Committees.

The company was founded in November 2005.

2006

Prior to joining KBR in 2006, Mr.

Doctor Golden retired from BP at the beginning of 2006.

2007

Kenneth W. Moore has been a member of the Board since August 2007 and is a member of our Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.

2009

In December 2009, the company became a public company via an initial public offering, raising $850 million.

2010

Jack E. Golden has been a member of the Board since January 2010 and is a member of our Compensation and Audit Committees.

2012

In 2012, the United States Department of Justice initiated an investigation into allegations that the company engaged in bribery in Angola, in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

2013

William P. Utt has been a member of the Board since March 2013, and presently serves as Cobalt's Chairman of the Board, as well as Chairman of our Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

2015

Jeffrey A. Starzec has served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel since February 2015.

In 2015, the company reached an agreement to sell its Angolan assets for $1.75 billion to Sonangol Group.

2016

John E. Hagale has been a member of the Board since March 2016 and is Chairman of our Audit Committee.

Timothy J. Cutt has served as Chief Executive Officer since July 2016.

2017

Paul Keglevic was appointed as a member of the Board in November 2017 and is a member of our Audit Committee.

Cobalt International Energy filed for bankruptcy on December 14, 2017 in the United States Bankruptcy Court in Houston.

The investigation was closed in 2017.

2018

To the dismay of many, on April 10, 2018 Cobalt International Energy terminated shareholders interest in the company as part of the bankruptcy agreement.
