Key Responsibilities - Real Estate Controller Lead general ledger review and analysis across the commercial real estate and development portfolio, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Oversee (or prepare as needed) Property/Development Management Fee and Construction Management Fee calculations, invoicing, and timely recording. Review monthly/quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules; collaborate closely with Property Managers, Project Managers, and Accounting teams to ensure accuracy and clear communication. Research complex accounting guidance and prepare technical accounting memos for new, unique, or non-standard transactions. Strengthen and monitor internal controls; lead process improvements and drive accounting best practices across the property and development teams. Partner with Asset Management and Property Management on annual property budgets; reconcile differences between Argus models and budget/forecast assumptions. Prepare audited financial statements, footnotes, and supporting documentation; oversee complex accounting areas or project-specific treatments. Support and guide preparation of tax projections and tax workpapers for complex commercial developments or high-value properties. Mentor and lead Accountants and Senior Accountants; provide training, technical support, and direction to elevate team capability. Qualifications CPA required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of progressive real estate, commercial development, or property accounting experience, including leadership or management. Strong GAAP knowledge with demonstrated experience preparing technical accounting memos. Deep understanding of property accounting, development accounting, real estate reporting, budgeting, and operational collaboration. Experience with real estate systems such as Yardi, MRI, Argus, JD Edwards, or similar platforms. Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments and influence senior leaders.
