The neck-down operator will set up and operate machinery that forms the neck or shoulder of the can determined by customer specifications. In addition to operating machinery, the neck-down operator will champion the packaging process of the aluminum cans for customers. Job Duties: Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling. Set up and operate all neck-down equipment. Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on neck-down related equipment. Observe machine operations to detect machine faults and make adjustments necessary for the line. Communication with fellow operators to update on production. Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans are meeting job specifications. Proficiently perform changeovers and production of aluminum containers to the specifications set by the customer. Stack finished items for further processing or shipment. Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions. Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
