Key Responsibilities:
Support Instructional Activities in the Lab
Assist instructors with hands-on student learning and skill development.
Prepare shop labs for classes by unlocking, setting up, and ensuring all equipment is ready for use.

Maintain, Repair, and Manage Tools & Equipment
Clean, sharpen, lubricate, and troubleshoot hand and power tools.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Knowledge and practical experience of Heavy Equipment shop competencies
• Working knowledge of inventory methods, materials and supplies procurement and handling, storing, and shipping methods
• Experience working with MSDS sheets and safety procedures for caustic, flammable, and hazardous products
• Experience using equipment service manuals to troubleshoot and repair or upgrade power tools and equipment, preparing written material and completing forms, filing and retrieving data using a computerized records system
• Current experience in Heavy Equipment Technology industry
• Teaching certificate from State of Idaho PTE

• Experience using computerized point of sale and inventory system

• Teaching experience in the trade

Idaho State University's Department of Mechanical and Measurement & Control Engineering (MMCE) invites applications to join our dynamic and growing team. The position is for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Energy and Power Systems starting August 2026.
As an Assistant Professor in MMCE, the expectations for the successful applicant are to participate in developing and teaching both undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, as well as in the core undergraduate curriculum, to build a collaborative, externally funded research program and to perform professional service. Consideration will be given to applicants with broad research interests in Energy systems which may include but are not limited to energy generation, energy storage, energy efficiency of power systems and renewable energy. To aid in these endeavors, the candidate is expected to participate synergistically with MMCE faculty in the activities of the Engineering Research Center (ERC), other research activities in the College of Science and Engineering (CoSE), across campus, and with external collaborators such as researchers at the nearby Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

● Participate in university-specific events, including but not limited to admissions events, new student orientation and convocation, homecoming/alumni weekend, parent weekend, and community-related engagement opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
● Master's Degree in higher education, student counseling, or related area of study.
● At least 5 years of experience working in higher education roles within student affairs, such as student activities, leadership and engagement, Greek life, or similar roles.
● Minimum of three years of progressively increasing supervisory responsibilities and personnel management experience.
● Previous experience in managing budgets and student labor.
● Experience advising and developing student organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience in writing and assessing learning outcomes, as well as leadership research and program evaluation
● Prior experience evaluating, creating, and building programs and systems related to supporting student engagement
● Involvement in professional organizations closely related to collegiate student leadership development
