You meet interesting people, get to explore the prestigious campus and are allowed to eat great food for free.
There's palpable tension between management and the unionized workers, in Faculty House in particular. The workplace politics are rampant, cliques are present, and everyone gossips about everyone, this behavior was even seen from senior management. The union members do not like working to the point where management has to request temps from agencies like JitJatJo and Bench, only for the union members to abuse their seniority over the temps and look for places to hide from work, sleep, or gossip some more. While the above mentioned in-house workers are mostly Spanish their cliques tend to gossip about those seen as different from them with behavior that's blatantly prejudice. There's nothing impressive or original about the deficiencies that posses the in-house workers of Faculty House any behavior you can imagine as immature, dishonest, or rude happens there daily.
Networking. Even as an introvert I've met some interesting people that sprouted into me indulging into rewarding pass times.
They will go to bat for you to make sure you can work your best.
The politics and cliques have to be punished with firings.
There is no interview process required to work here.
What I like best about my job is that a primary responsibility involves interacting with employees on all different levels of the organization and across all functional areas.
The work environment does not support team effort.
