The successful candidate's research will involve synergetic collaborations with a multidisciplinary team involving engine modelers and experimentalists, and computational scientists to enhance the predictive capability of engine modeling codes.

Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of fuel injection, ignition, and combustion processes for combustion engines using High-Performance Computing. Evaluate the impact of fuel properties and kinetics on combustion. Analyze advanced mixing and combustion methods for engines. Develop sub-models that improve CFD predictions and implement those models into commercial CFD codes. Use Machine Learning tools to gain further insights into complex datasets that are generated.
**Position Requirements**

+ Candidates must have a Ph.D. in mechanical/aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.

+ Knowledge of multi-dimensional code development (in C++/C/Fortran) for turbulent combustion modeling, internal combustion engine theory and operation, and parallel scientific computing is required.

Looking for motivated candidate to join Combustor Aero/Thermal/Fluids group. The group is responsible for all aspects of combustor/diffuser case aerodynamic design for both commercial and military product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:

+ Design flow path, fuel injection, combustor, and cooling architecture to meet program requirements.

+ CFD analysis of combustor/diffuser aerodynamics.

+ Thermal analysis of combustor/diffuser hardware.

+ Development & validation test execution.

+ Prepare and present summary of technical analysis.

+ Interfacing with other disciplines including design, structures, operability, durability.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2+ years' of prior relevant experience.

Position Concept:

The Combustion Turbine Engineer directs the development of a standardized fleet Maintenance Strategies for all combustion turbine assets and associated mechanical system assets (rotating equipment, heat exchangers, material transfer/conveying/piping, cooling systems, etc.).

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Establish a continuous collaborative reliability management process for mechanical systems which involves the development of mechanical system Asset Criticality, failure mechanism Monitoring Plan, Health Indicators/Policy, Asset Risk Dashboard and Recommendation Management

+ Develop and facilitate coordinated implementation of a fleetwide predictive monitoring program which supports our Asset Class Monitoring plans. Drive the continuous improvement and optimization in the effectiveness and cost of the monitoring plans thru replacement of time-based maintenance with predictive maintenance and the use innovative monitoring technologies

+ Collaboratively develop, maintain and audit standards, Quality Processes, and procedures associated with combustion turbine assets and associated mechanical system assets.

+ Facilitate root cause analysis, tracking of reliability metrics for mechanical system assets, management of change including the evaluation of changes to mechanical systems, benchmarking and the tracking of functional performance and condition of mechanical systems.

+ Facilitate the development, implementation and use of operational and information systems to support the mechanical system reliability process.

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college program

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred: Mechanical or mechanical related engineering degree, Florida Professional Engineer's License

Related Experience

Required: Minimum of 8 years of work experience in mechanical system design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.

Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of work experience with combustion and steam turbine operation and maintenance

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities(KSA)

Required: Working knowledge of mechanical system design, operation, and maintenance. This position requires a strong understanding of power generation principals, work practices and associated materials. In addition, this position requires the ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems. Good project management skills, time management skills and communication skills are required.
