What Does A Commercial Credit Analyst Do At People's United Bank

* Prepares objective written credit analyses including assigning accurate risk ratings for complex new loans or for the renewal of existing facilities as requested by account officers or required by policy.
* Analyzes financial statements, collateral, debt service, personal financial statements and personal cash flow, prepares lease synopsis, incorporates pertinent appraisal information and summarizes risks and mitigants, as applicable and germane to the size and complexity of the transaction.
* Demonstrates expertise in: proper loan structuring; legal and documentation issues; industry considerations that affect specific borrower types; credit policy and procedures and their impact on the transaction; and underwriting requirements specific to both CREF and C&I loan requests.
* Gathers information from Dun & Bradstreet and credit bureau reports to assess the borrower’s credit standing, and independently researches and gathers industry data from multiple sources as applicable.
* Tests financial covenants and prepare relationship sheets.
* Accompanies account officers on customer calls, particularly on larger or more complex credit requests to offer analytical support.

* Stays abreast of variations in laws across state boundaries, if applicable. ■ May assist senior team members and commercial bankers to screen loan packages and collect "due diligence" materials.
* May interact with customers and accountants to collect information on routine, non-controversial issues.
* Provides analytical support for developing and maintaining credit studies, financial background information and other relevant data on present and prospective customers. ■ May assist with the maintenance of management reporting systems, both manual and automated, that provide an accurate and readily available reference library of loan portfolios, clients current and historical data, reports, SOP, etc.
* Ensures all support documentation, both prepared and submitted, are in compliance and retained in accordance with the company's records retention policy. ■ May participate in a support role to a senior team member for a large and/or complex client portfolio. ■ May work with specific lenders on portfolio management.
* Proactively prepares for renewals, performs calculation of borrowing bases, monitors covenants, etc. ■ Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area.
* This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role.
* Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion. ■ Performs other related duties as required
