Under the direction of Lead Wastewater Plant Operator(s) and Wastewater Plant Supervisor (depending on the size and scope of the facility), the Transport Driver performs wastewater transportation operations, and associated maintenance and monitoring activities; performs work assignments to ensure performance, acceptable asset condition, quality, and health and safety standards are met or exceeded; and performs related work as required to ensure efficient and effective operations. This position is responsible for the efficient transport of materials to/from wastewater treatment facilities to/from landfills, warehouses, and other locations. Section 2 - Major Responsibilities Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, care and acceptable appearance of assigned vehicle(s) and/or mobile equipment. Work collaboratively with supervisory personnel, treatment operators, and other transport drivers to assure optimal efficiency, proper monitoring, and regulatory compliance. Perform a range of transportation and materials handling activities including, but not limited to, operation of equipment, light maintenance, monitoring systems, process improvement, record keeping; in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Notify appropriate personnel of needed repairs and renewal; and coordinate with maintenance personnel. Maintain thorough logs and records in both written and electronic form as required; use these records to improve the function and efficiency of various operations. Accomplish adequate execution and documenting of pre-trip inspections, properly maintaining and performing general housekeeping on assigned vehicle. Observe safety guidelines as required by State statutes and as prescribed by the NTMWD. This includes identifying and mitigating safety hazards as well as assisting in the implementation of safety programs. Receive shipments, monitor unloading processes, record into inventory, and check shipment documents for compliance to standard. Learn and comply with applicable NTMWD policies and procedures. Assume the responsibilities of direct supervisor(s) and subordinates as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Section 3 - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL). Must have three (3) years' experience operating vehicles that require a Class A CDL license and a good driving record. Knowledge of wastewater operations is preferred. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must obtain knowledge of compliance requirements, operations and maintenance requirements, and reporting/record keeping requirements. Must communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to convey information. Maintain basic computer skills, and electrical and mechanical knowledge. Section 4 - Environmental Factors, Working Conditions and Equipment The duties and responsibilities are generally performed in a motor vehicle or in a wastewater treatment environment. The position involves sitting (up to 8 hours per day), standing, walking, light to heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.), light carrying, bending and reaching, keyboarding, and telephone/radio operation. It often requires an irregular work schedule and overtime hours. Specific physical conditions require work with chemicals, tools, machinery, moving mechanical parts, etc. The duties and responsibilities are performed both indoors and outdoors. Moderate exposure to sun, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, biological hazards, rain, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials and chemicals, machinery, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, and water hazards are common. Perform and review work at locations that involve hazardous environments requiring the physical ability to wear and work using personal protective equipment (PPE) that meet or exceed guidelines such as established by OSHA which may result in some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, odors, chemicals and noise. The position may require work in adverse weather conditions with appropriate training. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Team drivers needed for run from Dallas, TX to Edmonton, Alberta Canada. $0.88 per mile (split) plus $0.06 per mile quarterly safety bonus (split). 4600 miles per week. Drives tractor and trailer combination or straight truck to transport cargo freight. May pick-up, load, unload, and deliver cargo freight. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Drives vehicle to specified destination in accordance with company procedures and governmental regulations. Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds and in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading/unloading dock areas. Maintains telephone or radio contact with dispatcher to receive pick-up or delivery instructions. Loads and unloads trailer, either individually or with assistance of dock workers, with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment. Ensures that load is secure by using a variety of cargo straps, tarps, ropes, chains, lumber and other tools. May perform lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of freight. Hooks and unhooks trailers from tractor or from converter dollies. Inspects tractor or truck for defects before, during and after trips and submits reports indication truck or tractor condition. Notes condition of various equipment items such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water. Install and remove tire chains as required by weather conditions. Ensures that all shipping documents (manifest, bills of lading, delivery receipts, hazardous material placarding, etc.) required to move the shipment is available and complete. Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures; and complies with all Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle. Maintains records as required, including drivers logs, vehicle inspections, and other reports. Reports any and all safety hazards. Reports accidents (vehicular and/or cargo) or on-the-job injury immediately to the on-duty supervisor. Dependable and consistent attendance required.
