Job DescriptionDescription: The Roots Shuttle Program transports clients being released from custody to three drop-off points: Dublin/Pleasanton BART, Oakland Coliseum BART, and Eastmont Transit Center from 9 a.m. to midnight. Shuttles will make two round trips per hour to transport clients to drop-off points. The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of our passengers. This position requires strict adherence to schedules and transport-related laws and regulations. The Shuttle Bus Driver must also be able to diagnose and remedy basic mechanical issues that may arise. Duties and Responsibilities: Transport passengers to and from the designate route stops. Conduct safety checks on the shuttle bus before every use. Arrive at collection points prior to departure times. Confirm that all passengers are present, and record no-shows. Ensure adherence to passenger limits, both seated and standing. Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible. Record and report all major accidents and incidents to your supervisor. Check that passengers disembark at the correct destinations, and in a timely manner. Ensure that the shuttle bus is fueled, well-maintained, and presentable at all times. Lead Reentry Coach/Driver The Center of Reentry Excellence (CORE) operates multiple facilities that operate as central service hubs for the coordination of reentry services for justice-impacted individuals and their families. The Lead Reentry Coach/Driver performs a wide range of critical functions in support of services available through CORE. As a transportation coordinator, the role has direct responsibility for coordinating operations related to a discrete program or set of services available through CORE, and as a Lead Reentry Coach may be tasked with providing some direct services and with the supervision of a limited number of Reentry Coaches or Peer Navigators as deemed necessary to achieve CORE's objectives. In Coordinating transportation services for CORE, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for supporting the reentry population with transportation to and from certain reentry related activities, including driving the CORE operated shuttle, an 8 passenger van, and with assisting individuals in obtaining or maintaining their own personal transportation options. The transportation oordinator, with the assistance of their manager, will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the service quality level of CORE's transportation services. In the absence of their manager, this role may be assigned some level of responsibility for supporting the day-to-day activities at their assigned worksite. The Transportation Coordinator may be called upon to serve as a “problem solver” for clients or partners to improve access to and the effectiveness of reentry services available through CORE. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that either reports to a CORE Program Manager or Site Manager; evening and weekend work may be required. Reporting to the Parking Manager, the Shuttle Bus Driver transports students, faculty, staff, and visitors between the South Campus Park and Ride lots and the Main Campus. When shuttle service is not required, the shuttle bus driver assists with other duties, including parking facility maintenance, vehicle cleaning/maintenance and/or general office duties. The driver is also responsible for the safe operation of the shuttle buses which includes daily safety inspections, fueling/servicing and making minor repairs/adjustments as needed. We are looking for professionaldrivers! We have new equipment, a $1000.00 sign-on bonus, and a $500.00 Driver referral bonus. Flatbed Drivers start at 23% of the line haul rate, and after 90 days move to 25%. Our Flatbed Drivers have the option of being routed through home on the weekends and the fleet average is 54¢ per mile for all miles. Benefits start after 60 days.
