Here's how you will make an impact: Underwrites commercial construction and SBA 504 loan requests to ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations. Analyzes financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, credit reports, and construction budgets to determine borrower repayment capacity and project feasibility. Evaluates collateral, appraisals, project feasibility, and borrower repayment capacity to assess risk exposure. Prepares credit memos and underwriting recommendations for management review and approval. Reviews and recommends approvals for construction project draw requests and monitors construction progress to mitigate risk during the building phase. Ensures accurate SBA documentation, filing requirements, and debenture funding readiness to guarantee loan eligibility and sale readiness. Maintains underwriting records, loan data, and performance tracking in Abrigo (or similar software) for audit and reporting purposes. Performs portfolio reviews, updates risk ratings, and reports on loan performance to inform portfolio management decisions. Collaborates with Credit Union personnel, Business Development Officers (BDOs), closing teams, internal and external stakeholders throughout the underwriting, and participation process to ensure smooth execution. Provides guidance to construction analysts and supports process improvements and regulatory compliance within the department. Preforms other related duties as assigned by management. Requirements: What You Bring to the Table Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. 5+ years' experience in commercial construction and CRE underwriting required with proven expertise in SBA 504 construction loan underwriting. Proficiency with credit spreading software, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and construction draw software. Expertise in construction project budgets, draw schedules, feasibility analysis, and global cash flow. Strong understanding of commercial construction, multi-family, hospitality and mixed-use projects.
