Commodity specialist job description

Make a difference.

As a Quotations Specialist, you will handle the quotations process from the time you receive the request to the time you submit the quote to the customer. You will communicate with Graybar sales representatives, customer service representatives, customers and manufacturer representatives to gather needed details to create your quotes. You will learn about our product lines and pricing mechanics, as well as the computer systems we use, in order to provide quotations that result in profitable sales for the company.

In this role you will:
Prepare cost estimates of material Contact factories and representatives to obtain cost information Collaborate with sales representatives and customer service representatives Form relationships with customers and suppliers to provide on-time and accurate quotations Compare manufacturers' bills of material to ascertain and price any differences for complete comparisons

Customer service and communication skills Ability to meet deadlines Knowledge of SAP and ability to work with Excel formulas 2+ years experience preferred2 year degree in Business or related preferred

Job Description

Secures and analyzes quotations and conducts negotiations with suppliers for the purchase of goods and/or services. Develops and implements commodity strategies for assigned commodities to establish long-term sources. Serves as primary interface on all commercial matters related to suppliers. Works cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders including marketing, quality, finance, manufacturing and engineering.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the development and implementation of assigned global commodity strategies for direct goods and services to drive the maximum value for the company.

• Develop and lead material cost management initiatives for assigned commodities.

• Negotiate supplier contracts and make recommendations to leadership.

• Manage supplier performance, commercial relationships, and metrics.

• Work with suppliers to identify and bring forward new and innovative technologies.

Who You'll Work With

You'll be working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Legal, and other Supply Chain teams.

Who You Are

You possess a combination of software product management, contract management, data science, software component creation and PID structure, business experience working with Cisco Engineering teams, and strong presentation skills. This position is an outstanding opportunity for someone who has worked closely with software product teams, can interpret license agreements, and is excited to participate in business operation, commodity strategy, analytics and process improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in Software Engineering or Supply Chain; Masters Degree preferred

* Management/multi-discipline experience preferred

* Familiarity with software license agreements or contracts

* Knowledge of software licensing, contract compliance and software Bill-Of-Material (BOM) structuring preferred

* Python experience with at least knowledge of one web framework.

* Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system.

* Experience with big data.

* Working understanding of networking industry.

* Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.

* Knowledge of SaaS, PaaS & IaaS.

* Process improvement experience with tools like Six Sigma preferred.
