Housekeeping Lead
Overview
The Housekeeping Lead is responsible for coordinating and maintaining housekeeping schedules and standards to ensure a consistently clean, safe, and comfortable environment throughout the community. This position supports quality assurance, process improvement, and task coordination.
Qualifications
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of two years of housekeeping experience in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Comfortable using checklists, schedules, and reporting tools.
Areas of Primary Responsibility
Maintain and manage cleaning schedules for resident rooms and common areas, ensuring timely completion and consistency.
Conduct routine quality checks on cleaned areas to ensure they meet established cleanliness standards.
Assist with daily housekeeping duties as needed, including:
Cleaning and disinfecting resident rooms and common areas.
Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces.
Collecting and disposing of trash.
Maintain and update supply inventories; promptly notify the Director of Maintenance or Executive Director of restocking needs.
Monitor the condition and cleanliness of housekeeping carts and storage areas.
Support setup of common areas for community events or dining as needed.
Ensure cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and infection control practices are always followed.
Log and report any maintenance concerns or resident observations.
Assist in training new housekeepers in cleaning processes and expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the stripping, buffing and waxing of floor surfaces throughout the hospital in accordance with safety and sanitation practices set forth by guidelines provided. May also assist in general housekeeping duties such as room/office cleaning; restroom maintenance, trash collection, or other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Preferred High School Diploma Minimum 18 years of age. Ability to read and write well enough to identify chemical agents, follow strict isolation procedures and complete paperwork
Less than 2 years Minimum of one year of janitorial and floor care experience, preferably in a health care setting. Preferred
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Ability to plan and execute floor care projects with minimal guidance from the supervisor/manager of EVS. Effective interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to communicate housekeeping activities with patients, staff and visitors.

The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in all areas of the community, as directed by the Maintenance Director, and in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the community.
Qualifications
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• High school graduate or equivalent credentials preferred.
• Minimum of one year of housekeeping experience preferred.
Areas of Primary Responsibility
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions with established procedures as assigned.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing and disinfecting.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Clean and polish any furnishings in hallways and, if applicable, in stairways and elevator.
• Clean resident rooms, to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning mirrors and pictures.
• Collect all trash from rooms, offices, lounges, and bathrooms daily.
• Clean walls, windows and baseboards by washing, wiping off, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. Keep all windows, cabinets, doors, and mirrors smudgefree and clean.
• Assist in setting up dining room, activity room, and living room as necessary.
• Report any needed repairs to maintenance personnel or Executive Director.
• Keep all housekeeping equipment, storage areas, janitor's closets, and housekeeping carts clean and uncluttered, and free of any hazardous equipment and supplies, etc.
• Respond to residents' needs as requested.
• Launder community linens as needed.
• Inform Executive Director or designee of all supply needs in a timely manner.
• Report all accidents/ incidents to the Executive Director on the day of occurrence, along with important resident observations.
• Ensure that cleaning schedules are followed as closely as possible.
• Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to ensure resident rights are protected; honor residents' personal property rights.
