Please see below for descriptions of our various technician roles:Production Technician Production Technicians will build and test complex assemblies used in superconducting magnets, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires at least 3 years of mechanical or electrical assembly experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to follow detailed procedures and drawings. R&D Technician R&D Technicians support the development and commercialization of new products by assisting with prototype builds, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance across various technical areas. This role requires at least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical assembly, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Fiber Optic Specialist Fiber Optic Specialists support R&D and Production teams by performing fiber splicing, testing, and integration of optical fibers into complex systems. Commissioning Technician Commissioning Technicians support the testing and inspection of new systems under the guidance of experienced field leads, contributing to the development of commercial fusion energy. This role requires hands-on experience, adaptability, and a willingness to work in industrial environments. RF Technician RF Technicians support the fabrication, testing, and installation of high-power RF components for CFS's fusion energy systems. Join the power movement as a Senior Techno-economic Analyst For fusion power plants to be successful they must be economically competitive with other power generation technologies. The techno-economic analyst is responsible for developing models critical to evaluating fusion power plants' financial viability and commercial desirability. The candidate will work closely with internal CFS team members to create and evolve economic models, run sensitivity analysis, identify opportunities for improvement and provide input to design, engineering, and R&D on impacts. This role will serve an important function within the business development team supporting communicating the benefits of fusion energy to customers and key stakeholders.What you'll do: Deliver: Continue the development of techno-economic modeling at CFS to characterize the future costs and benefits of ARC, the world's first commercial fusion power plant Incorporate expectations for learning and experience benefits as the company develops additional power plants Establish and maintain company best practices and lessons learned related to analytical methods and models. This position involves developing and managing project controls, including scheduling cost control and risk management. Join the power movement as a Senior Multiphysics Modeler The Senior Multiphysics Modeler will work closely with the CFS tritium program and process engineering team to develop a fuel cycle model for the world's first fusion power plant, ARC, located in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The senior multiphysics modeler will develop simulation toolkits and workflows that integrate first-principles multiphysics simulations with industrial process models to support technology development and subsystem integration for key fuel cycle systems, supported by the CFS fuel team to understand system requirements. The ideal candidate is an expert in heat and mass transport modeling, with an appreciation for simplicity and drive to build. This individual knows the power of optimizing devices by tuning material parameters, and appreciates a simple non-dimensional analysis and rigorous integrated simulations as the problem space requires. The candidate enjoys teaching and building tools that others can use independently. Applicants must have a degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline as well as experience in process modeling and programming. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to apply a first principles approach in solving complex engineering problems and experience conducting cost-benefit to evaluate the economics of proposed solutions. Join the power movement as a Process Engineering Manager ARC will be the first machine to produce electricity from fusion energy, serving as the cornerstone to a new industry. ARC will strongly leverage the work that's been done for SPARC in developing HTS magnets and other key tokamak systems. However, because of its mission to deliver power to the grid, the ARC tokamak has several systems not included on SPARC. The ARC group within R&D is a growing team that is delivering key scientific and engineering results to push the technical readiness level of these new enabling technologies higher. The Blanket System team at CFS is looking to grow the team as we expand our operations into larger-scale, FLiBe-based test loops. These test loops will operate in a novel and extreme environment, with high temperatures, chemical hazards, and new materials. We are looking for a Salt Process Engineering Manager to lead a growing team specializing in the design of FLiBe systems. This person needs to be an experienced engineering manager who can balance resource needs across diverse projects and grow a center of excellence for salt process design. The Blanket System team has a strong practice of carrying engineering risk where appropriate while attentively and aggressively managing safety risk, and we are looking for an engineer who will actively contribute to this culture.
