Requisition Summary Communication/Recruiter Intern The Communication/Recruiter Intern will support the company's internal and external communication initiatives while assisting with the full lifecycle of recruiting. This role provides hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, and corporate branding. The intern will collaborate closely with the HR and Communications teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and contribute to talent acquisition efforts. Job Functions / Responsibilities Special Project Assistance including, but not limited to: * Assist with managing the full cycle recruiting process with a high-volume requisition load. * Help design, develop, and implement effective sourcing strategies to attract quality candidates. * Stay abreast of changes in the online marketing environment and adjust accordingly. * Generate Recruiting Statistics reports. * Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems. * Facilitate a selected portion of one of our training programs. * The intern will learn basic presentation skills and how to engage participants in a training environment. * Assist with recruiting efforts. * Assist in drafting and editing internal communications, newsletters, employee engagement activities and announcements. * Support social media content creation and scheduling across platforms. * Help maintain and update the company website and intranet content. * Conduct research for communication campaigns and industry trends. * Assist in planning and executing events, and community outreach initiatives. * Monitor media coverage, compile reports on communication metrics and prepare analytics reports. * Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent brand messaging. * Participate in brainstorming sessions for marketing and branding strategies. * Maintain communication calendars and ensure timely delivery of content. * Provide administrative support for events and meetings as needed. * Create Communication/Recruiter Dashboard using Data Analytics * Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications & Skills * Pursuing B.S. Degree in Human Resource, Business Information Systems, Business, or related Program and have completed their sophomore year of college. * Experience in Microsoft SharePoint preferred. * MS Office proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint). * Proven ability to work in a self-directed environment required. Position Overview The Public Relations Coordinator plays a pivotal role on the Communications Team, supporting the Communications Director in developing and executing a robust strategy to elevate MS Votes and MSVAF's brand, amplify our work, and grow public awareness of our impact. Track media coverage and prepare post-coverage evaluation reports for staff and board briefings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and implement multimedia communication strategies to support the division's programs, events, and initiatives across all Early Childhood programs. • Create, write, and produce engaging content for social media, websites, newsletters, and digital platforms to enhance visibility, strengthen community engagement, and support program goals. • Develop story ideas, gather information, and produce written and visual content, including news and feature stories, photos, and videos, for distribution across print, digital, and media outlets locally, regionally, and nationally. • Collaborate with program teams to ensure consistent branding, accessibility, and alignment with MSU Extension and Early Childhood Programs' communication standards. • Prepare and disseminate press releases, media advisories, and special announcements; provide event coverage and contribute to multimedia news packages. • Capture and curate photos, videos, and digital stories that highlight program impact, success stories, and community partnerships. • Analyze and report on digital engagement metrics to guide content strategy and measure communication effectiveness. • Maintain organized archives of communication materials, media assets, and project documentation. • Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility in completing assignments, including occasional after-hours coverage for events or time-sensitive projects. • Perform other related duties as assigned. • Supervisory Responsibility: None Minimum Qualifications: Education: • Bachelor's degree in print, broadcast, digital journalism; communication; public relations or related field Experience: • Two years of related experience Substitutions: • An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
