The employee shall also be the main point of contact regarding technical aspects of the Dictation System, PACS, and internal and external Radiology applications. Additionally, this individual will act as a contact for physicians to resolve day-to-day operational issues. POSITION EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS: * High School diploma or equivalent is required. * Knowledge of radiology specific practice and/or PACS system experience. * Knowledge of methods, tools and equipment used in the operation of WINDOWS Server, SQL, HL7, and DICOM operating systems. * Familiarity with specific radiology applications such as PACS/RIS and with radiology specific exams. * Organizational skills are necessary * Good written and verbal communication skills required. * Ability to read, write and speak English * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians * Preferred hospital experience JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: * Exhibit strong teaching skills; will be training all levels of staff within/out of Radiology Department * Must be a motivated individual; willing to continually learn new functions * Must possess some knowledge of departments workflow and various modalities e.g. CT/MR/NM/US/Diag/Angio/Film Room/Transcription as necessary * Exhibit good communication (both written and oral) skills, as they will be responsible for system implementation, documentation, policies, and training. * Able to take call as needed * Experience with a HIS/RIS a plus * Must have excellent customer service skills. * High degree of competency/experience in general. * Requires good communication and organizational skills. * Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. * Requires working with frequent interruptions. * Must project a professional image. POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: * Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices * Responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of PACS equipment, including image workflow, archiving, and other related activities. * Works closely with unit operations managers to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling. * Works closely with the PACS Administrator, in the enforcement of developed operating standards, policies, and procedures. * Works with Information Technology department and vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems, as well as upgrades to existing systems. * Provides system administration for all aspects of the system. This includes creating, updating, and maintaining systems tables, maintaining passwords, logging in, and granting access to users as needed. * Responsible for day-to-day support of the physician's dictation system and its integration/interface into the PACS system. * Responsible for researching, planning, and executing the implementation of patches and upgrades to the dictation servers and clients. * Monitors system's interfaces, hardware, software and performance characteristics. * Provides problem resolution. * Ensures all interfaces into PACS system function for maximum availability. * Assists the PACS Administrator with the configuration and support of referring physician PACS access. * Performs other related functions as assigned. * On call is required. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-13: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with communications methods and techniques to be able to function as the technical authority to plan, develop, coordinate and apply effective programs and enhance understanding; Experience in making oral presentation and conducting meetings to obtain customer input on program issues, and develop mutually agreed upon resolutions; Experience in development and dissemination of communication materials; Applying a variety of approaches to help others meet their business objectives through effective communication programs; Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships to enhance communication and dissemination of information and in analyzing and developing recommendations from a wide array of conflicting and divergent. AND MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: For positions above the GS-05, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the grade you are applying for.
