About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Transportation as well as school-based administration, the School Bus Operator responsible for transporting students safely and ensuring the vehicle is in clean, safe operating condition at all times while abiding by federal, state, local, and district procedures, policies, and regulations. School Bus Operators will be full time employees of CANO and eligible for benefits.
Essential Job Duties
Inspecting the bus before and after each route; maintaining a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
Transporting children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons, stopping at all stops on the route and reporting any delays or deviations in schedule to the transportation office.
Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers.
Obeying all traffic laws and policies related to bus safety & operations
Establishing high expectations for each student and supporting their academic, social, and emotional development
Maintaining a safe environment on the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.
Reporting any unsafe environment to supervisors immediately.
Tracking of the number of students transported, reporting to the supervisor daily.
Attending bus safety meetings.
Participating in the life of the school, including student activities and events.
CANO School Bus Operators will have designated responsibilities assigned within their school. Responsibilities may include supervising student lunch, supervising student recess, supporting classroom and front office activities.
Embodying, advocating, and operationalizing the mission, vision, and direction of the school.
Taking on other tasks, as needed.
Required Qualifications
Must be over 25 or have at least three years of school bus driving experience
Must possess a valid CDL license with a school bus endorsement (Class B)
Must possess or obtain a valid City of New Orleans Driver Permit
Desirable Qualifications:
3+ years school bus driving experience
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Frequently exposed to loud noise levels, fumes or airborne particles, noxious odors, vibrations from driving a bus, and traffic
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside inclement weather conditions
Frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel; use foot controls to drive; reach with hands and arms; climb and descend stairs with a maximum height of 17 ½ inches; bend, stoop, and kneel; and talk or hear
Physically able to perform and demonstrate emergency evacuation procedures. This includes the pushing/pulling of up to 50 pounds, operating two-hand controls simultaneously and quickly in an emergency, carrying or dragging a person up to 125 pounds 30 feet in 30 seconds or less, and exiting from an emergency door opening of 24 by 48 inches at least 42 inches from the ground in 10 seconds. Must be physically able to open all emergency exits installed in any school bus they may be assigned.
This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, night/dusk vision, color vision, and peripheral vision
Specific hearing abilities include hearing sufficient to be aware of traffic or road distractions and conditions, and must be able to hear and listen to children. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
Employees must pass a background check, DOT drug screening, DOT physical, DOT Clearinghouse Check, MVR, and appropriate training before driving a bus.
Regularly and frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a laptop or desktop computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, inside the classroom and school building while monitoring students productivity and behavior on a daily basis.

About the Role
The primary role of a teacher is to deliver classroom instruction that helps students learn. To accomplish this, teachers must prepare effective lessons, grade student work and offer feedback, manage classroom materials, productively navigate the curriculum, and collaborate with other staff. An Instructor reports directly to the Division Head, Assistant Principal, and Principal. THe instructor's role is to also uphold the mission and values of Community Academies of New Orleans in all student and family interactions to ensure our commitment is promoting academic excellence and success.
Essential Job Duties
Planning and implementing class lessons that ensure the attainment of state learning standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards.
Planning and coordinating programs with the faculty and administration.

The Assistant Principal's job is to support the school in driving academic and culture outcomes for students and staff as a key member of the school's leadership team. At KIPP, Assistant Principals lead both instruction and school culture, and are also to be able to develop leadership in the school's emerging leaders.
As a KIPP New Orleans Assistant Principal, your core responsibilities include:
Model and support implementation of the school's vision and goals:
* Supports development of School Leader's school-wide vision and takes an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school; owns the implementation of select school priorities in support of the school-wide vision

* Research-based Instructional Practices (Methods and Time):
* Develops own and teacher's knowledge of best practices in instructional methods and teaches teachers how to match particular strategies to gaps in student mastery
Develop teachers to provide rigorous and high quality instruction and support School Leader in planning and implementing enabling systems of the Academic Strategies Pyramid:
* Data Analysis (Data-driven Instruction and Progress Monitoring):
* Lead data-driven instruction. Help teachers: determine how data aligns to end-of-year goals (what is being assessed and how it maps to standards); break-out data to analyze how different student groups are performing; determine what data is saying about areas of student mastery and growth; and identify specific instructional actions and adjustments to fill students' knowledge and skill gaps and a timeline to do so
* Teacher Instructional Development (Instructional Coaching, Content Teams, and Workshops):
* Provide high-quality instructional coaching with frequent and scheduled teacher observations, actionable and bite-sized feedback, and accountability for adjustment in practice
* Coach emerging leaders on their instructional coaching practice
* May lead or coach others who lead department/content/grade-level meetings that focus on planning for and norming on instruction and culture, practicing instructional strategies, and progress monitoring the department/content/grade level
* Recommend to the School Leader what school-wide professional development will be the highest leverage in improving student results; lead engaging, actionable, adult-learning workshops; and hold staff accountable for implementation of the workshop practices

Qualifications
The following are required of all KIPP New Orleans Assistant Principals:
* Bachelor's degree.
* At least 3 years of effective K-12 classroom teaching with clear evidence of student growth.
* 1-3 years of formal or informal school leadership (e.g., Grade Level Chair, Department Chair, Dean, Instructional Coach, RTI/MTSS lead) supporting adults through observation/feedback, data meetings, and PD cycles-preferably in public, urban, or charter settings; demonstrated contribution to improved results on state/interim proficiency or growth, attendance/chronic absenteeism, discipline disproportionality, and/or teacher effectiveness/retention.
* Strong understanding of standards-aligned curriculum & assessment; MTSS/RTI; effective literacy and math practices; IDEA/504, ELL supports, behavior systems, and assessment security; commitment to school culture systems that are identity-affirming, safe, and consistent.
* Demonstrated data fluency with SIS/LMS and assessment tools (e.g., PowerSchool/Infinite Campus, Illuminate, NWEA/MAP) and productivity suites (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) to drive instructional and culture decisions.

The Dean of Student Support will lead the implementation, and management of KNOS Special Education Program, policies, and procedures, and work collaboratively with all Student Support Teammates (Social Workers, Psychologists, MTSS leads and SLPs), service providers, and families to provide a strong educational program for all KIPPsters.

* Develop, maintain, and audit Related Service Provider schedules to ensure instructional minutes align with IEP program services
Dean of Student Support Compliance Duties:
* Train Special Education teachers on how to effectively write an IEP and monitor progress to goal
* Facilitate IEP meetings within timeline
* Provide feedback to case-managers on 100% of IEPs before entering and finalizing in SER
* Develop, maintain, and share IEP calendar with all key stakeholders to ensure case managers are able to complete 100% of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in timeline
* Develop and execute a cycle of weekly/bi-weekly student service log audits including reviews of recent IEP meeting paperwork to ensure ongoing compliance. Ensure that all teachers and leaders are aware of scholars ELL, IEP and 504 accommodations and have visible structures to implement with fidelity
* Collaborate w/ MTSS Team to develop & monitor 504 plans & organize & communicate accommodations to all teachers, families & administrators
* Manage service providers through regular check-ins to ensure all compliance outcomes within timeline
* Collaborate with Psychologists to meet all evaluation deadlines and remove barriers through regular check-ins
* Lead teams to meet schoolwide compliance outcomes.
* Collaborate with SOL to coordinate & problem solve ongoing Special Transportation challenges (Special Transportation is owned by School based DSO)
Dean of Student Support Discipline Duties:
* Collaborate with Leadership Team to consult on and monitor suspensions of all students with IEPs & execute MDR Meeting when any students exceed 10 suspensions
* Collaborate with MTSS Team and write behavior Intervention plans and attend all FBA/BIP Meetings
* Advocating for ability to engage and model restorative approaches to discipline with students, families and teachers serving students diverse learners with IEPs

Qualifications
The following are required of all KIPP New Orleans Deans of Student Support:
* Bachelor's degree.
* At least 3 years of effective K-12 classroom teaching with clear evidence of student growth, including experience serving students with disabilities (e.g., special education teacher, inclusion/resource teacher, interventionist).
* 1-2 years of formal or informal leadership in special education or student support (e.g., Special Education Coordinator, Case Manager Lead, RTI/MTSS/504 Chair, Grade Level/Content Lead) supporting adults through IEP/504 processes, data meetings, and/or coaching-preferably in public, urban, or charter settings.
* Deep understanding of IDEA and Section 504; the IEP and 504 processes; specially designed instruction; accommodations and modifications; inclusive practices; and collaboration between general and special educators.
* Strong knowledge of MTSS/RTI, progress monitoring, behavior intervention, and restorative/culturally responsive practices; commitment to school culture systems that are identity-affirming, safe, and inclusive for students with disabilities.
* Demonstrated data fluency with SIS/LMS and assessment tools (e.g., PowerSchool/Infinite Campus, Illuminate, NWEA/MAP, curriculum-based measures) and productivity suites (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) to monitor student progress, compliance, and service delivery.
* Proven ability to build strong partnerships with families, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and external agencies in support of students with disabilities.

The Data Manager powers teaching, operations, and compliance on a high school campus by owning the full data lifecycle-testing, SIS/records, attendance, enrollment, and reporting-across the school. Reporting to the Director of Transportation as well as school-based administration, the School Bus Operator responsible for transporting students safely and ensuring the vehicle is in clean, safe operating condition at all times while abiding by federal, state, local, and district procedures, policies, and regulations. School Bus Operators will be full time employees of CANO and eligible for benefits.

About the Role
An Bi-Lingual Receptionist is responsible for handling various clerical tasks in a school's office., and has strong communication skills. They ensure that the school environment runs as smoothly as possible and allow teachers to focus their energies purely on providing children with an education, rather than worrying about keeping records and other vital yet time-consuming tasks. Collaborate with school officials, parents, and teachers, handle complaints, and address issues pertaining to students and school policies,they also answer emails from administrators, parents, and vendors.
Coordinates a variety of programs and/or activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services in conformance to established guidelines. Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, police, etc.) for the purpose of directing to appropriate personnel for resolutions.
Maintains a variety of computerized and manual records, files, and department databases (e.g. information packets, rosters/listings, calendars, outstanding supply orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information and complying with organization.
Greets all incoming visitors for the purpose of ensuring that guests sign in/out as required.
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials (e.g. forms, office supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring items' availability.
Performs record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. copying, faxing, mailings, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or materials as needed.
Prepares a wide variety of reports and written materials (e.g. correspondence, agendas, minutes, newsletters, Parent Handbooks, bulletins, programs, annual reports, master calendar, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information in accordance with district, state, federal and/or administrative requirements.
Responds to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among departments and/or providing direction as may be required.
Supports the Principal and other administrative personnel for the purpose of assisting with their administrative functions.
Maintains office equipment, tools and work areas (e.g. cleaning, load supplies, clear paper jams, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment and the availability of items within a specific time frame.
Aware of all school attendance policies as well as policies regarding school visitors, picking up students, early dismissals, and other pertinent rules

About the Role
The primary role of a Bi-Lingual Teacher is to deliver classroom instruction that helps students learn and translate lessons. To accomplish this bi-lingual teachers must prepare effective lessons, grade student work and offer feedback, manage classroom materials, productively navigate the curriculum, and collaborate with other staff. A Bi-Lingual Instructor reports directly to the Division Head, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Essential Job Duties
Planning and implementing class lessons that ensure the attainment of state learning standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards.

The English Learner Paraprofessional is responsible for helping prepare and present lessons under the supervision of the teacher of record. Bilingual or not, the paraprofessional needs a high level of English so they can instruct students on how to speak and read English, as the teacher directs. They help the teacher configure the class into teams, groups or pairs for special activities.
