1979—Eddie Staton was the Wesley House program director; Richard Brown was the athletics coordinator; Michael Browder was the youth activities coordinator, and; Janice Saunders was the group worker

1979 WHDC broke ground on its first community, the 128-unit Strawbridge Square Apartments.

1980

His wrestlers went to national championships, and one joined the world wrestling team in 1980.

In 1986, the centers both offered family enhancement programs, women’s resource centers, “sweat equity” housing development, senior meals programs, pre-school and after-school learning programs, and a variety of other youth activities.

1986—The Franklin Community Federal Credit Union is permanently closed and liquidated by the federal government

1991

In 1991, Doctor Wead was declared recipient of The Omaha Star‘s first Citizenship Award.

1991—The Community Bank of Nebraska was sold to Norwest Bank

1999

1999Al Smuzynski becomes President and CEO of WHDC. 1999

2002

Reports shows that starting in 2002, probation officers actively discouraged parents from sending their children to the center, and the next year Wesley House lost a significant amount of their support from the United Way.

2007

2007Shelley Murphy joins WHDC as President and CEO. 2007

2009

2009-19 WHDC more than doubled its number of affordable housing units and residents served.

2010

In 2010, the United Methodist Church withdrew their support entirely and closed the center the next year.

2010—Paul Bryant resigned as the executive director

2011

In 2011, the Housing Stability Initiative was launched, expanding resident services and offering eviction prevention, linkage and referral, career enhancement, and material assistance/in-kind support to all residents.

2013

2013—A nonprofit called Passion to Action opens at the former Wesley House.

2015

2015 - 2015 Wesley brings Early Head Start back to the neighborhood welcoming children starting at 6 weeks of age.

2017

2017—Passion to Action began restoration work to preserve the history of the Wesley House while buying the entire campus; the organization continue operating today

2020

The Wesley Housing of 2020 ended the year with nearly 100 employees and is becoming one of the most far-reaching, developers, owners, and operators of affordable housing in the DMV. 2020

2021

2021 - 2021 Wesley opens the Adult Education program to address the needs of clients seeking GED classes, Digital Literacy, and career exploration for young adults.
