The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or higher (preferred), two years of experience teaching children ages 3-5, and will be bilingual in English and Spanish. This position is under an Advanced Placement rate and all new hires receive $26/hour for a Step 9 qualification or $32/hour for a Step 10. Abbreviated Duties List: Use Creative Curriculum to create an environment conducive to learning, reflective of the different stages of child development, responsive to cultural backgrounds, and inviting to children and families. Develop and implement weekly lesson plans; collecting and recording objective child observations; support with the planning and implementation of the curriculum and individualized education services to the children in the class. Ensure the successful inclusion of all, including children with mental health and/or special needs; work with Early Childhood Special Education staff and partners to identify and provide appropriate services. Conduct home visits, parent-teacher conferences and other parent-focused activities to establish a positive link between home and school for families of assigned children and supports the parent(s) as the primary educator of the child. Develop and maintain a detailed working knowledge of Community Action Head Start Policies and Procedures and Head Start Performance Standards including and not limited to Family Services, Parent Engagement and Policy Council. In collaboration with the Family Services Teacher, provide relationship-based support to assist families in skill development to achieve their family goals including regular follow-up to identify progress, barriers to progress. Minimum 1 year experience teaching children ages 3-5 years in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group program. Job Position Description: Community Action is seeking a compassionate and self-reliant individual to maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for residents and staff. As a Shelter Resident Assistant, you'll be the primary staff presence during your shifts, overseeing a shared living space for five families. This vital role involves direct interaction with residents, conflict resolution, and ensuring the smooth operation of our 24/7 facility. Shift Schedule (34.5 hours/week): Sunday, day shift, and Monday & Tuesday, night shifts. Abbreviated Duties List: Monitor resident activities, ensure policy adherence, and secure the facility. Identify and address potential conflicts between residents or family members. Respond appropriately to crises and complete incident reports. Conduct phone screenings, manage shelter waiting lists, and make referrals to our network. Screen clients, distribute food boxes, and maintain food safety standards. Oversee resident chores, perform light maintenance, and ensure cleanliness. Maintain detailed shift logs, complete participant records, and communicate effectively with staff. Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist with general office duties. Abbreviated Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year working with low-income populations in a social service setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proven ability to work independently and handle emergency situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong cultural awareness.
