Participates on program related committees as approved by the Program Director. Is required to travel by ground or air to meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. Monitors all volunteers within the classroom. Assists with the program inventory, as well as, securing necessary equipment and supplies. Continues professional growth through educational and training experiences in their field. Maintains active involvement with participants at all times to include sitting on floor with children during rug times and eating with the children at the table at mealtimes. Ensures all required standards are maintained for the Early Head Start Program. Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates using appropriate measurements using a plan of instruction, activity plans, and other related teaching aids for the classroom to determine the success of each participant. Coordinates with the EHS Education Coordinator and makes recommendations on referral issues. Communicates with parents using various means of communications to include but not limited to: personal meetings, newsletters, telephone calls, home visits (minimum of four per year), through volunteer programs, etc. Participates with Part C agency representatives in the development of IFSP's and consults with Part C staff on a regular basis about special needs. Under the supervision of a Site Supervisor, the Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teachers of a center to carry out a high-quality early childhood program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Other duties may be assigned. When in the teacher/child ratio, maintains 100% supervision of all children, by sight and sound at all times. Consistently uses positive child guidance methods. Develops positive relationships with each child and with parents. Assists in meal preparation, mealtime and clean up. Sets cots or mats out for nap time and assists children during napping. Helps to maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment. Maintains the confidentiality of records and information about enrolled families. Attends and contributes to regular staff meetings and curriculum planning meetings. Helps to implement the curriculum under teacher direction, including small group, field trips, mealtimes, and one on one activities with children. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Obtain and maintain a current Child Development Permit for position held. Must obtain and maintain a Pediatric First Aid and CPR card.
