In 1967, the Colorado legislature created CCD, with classes commencing three years later in a renovated auto showroom close to the Civic Center.
Originally established in 1967 for the Colorado Legislature, CCD is housed in the oldest neighborhood in Denver.
In 1985 CCD North opened on Downing Street, six miles northeast of Auraria.
1991: The Bridge Project is founded to provide tutoring, mentoring and college scholarships to children in Denver’s public housing communities.
2001: Students hold DU's first Diversity Summit, a program started with 25 students to more than 1,000 today.
2012: DU hosts the presidential election's first debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
